Being the capable one gets you a lot of praise.
But sometimes, it also makes it harder to admit when you’re struggling.
You’re the one who figures things out.
The one people rely on.
The one who keeps going, even when you’ve got a lot on your plate.
And because you’ve handled so much before, people assume you’ll handle this, too.
Maybe you’ve started expecting the same from yourself.
You tell yourself you should be able to manage everything. You feel guilty when you rest. You replay small mistakes. And when someone asks if you need help, your instinct is to say, “I’m fine.”
Even when you’re not.
And the hardest part? You can become so focused on being the person everyone needs that you stop asking what you need.
You can be strong without having to be the strong one all the time.
You can be ambitious without making every achievement a test of your worth. You can make mistakes without turning them into a judgment about yourself. And you can let someone support you without feeling you’ve failed.
You don’t have to stop being capable. You just don’t have to carry everything to prove that you are.
Here’s something worth asking yourself:
If you weren’t busy proving that you could handle everything, what might you finally give yourself permission to do?
If this feels familiar, it’s something we can explore together, with so many various tools I use. Send me a DM, and we can start with a conversation.
