From scholarship recipient to TriState Health float nurse—Hayden Ottmar, RN, has a journey that shows what happens when a community invests in its caregivers!

Like many nursing students, Hayden faced heavy costs that went far beyond tuition—from textbooks to stethoscopes. Thanks to the TriState Health Foundation and Auxiliary scholarships, that financial burden was lifted, allowing her to focus entirely on her education.

After graduating in 2024, she joined our Nurse Residency Program, building the confidence and versatile skills she uses today across multiple departments. For Hayden, local care is all about the relationships. "In a smaller community, you really get to know your patients," she shares. "You remember their stories. That connection matters."

Meet Jay Stafford, the first patient testimonial in our "Local Care. Lifelong Commitment." series!

Jay is a retired Tacoma Police Department officer who moved to the Lewis-Clark Valley to be closer to his grandkids. Coming from big cities, Jay wasn't sure what to expect from a small community hospital. What he found at TriState Health was care built entirely on relationships, trust, and genuine connection.

We want to shine the spotlight on Jazmine “Jazzy” Showers, a Clinic Support Clerk in our Centralized Clinic Services (CCS) Department! 🌟

For nearly five years, Jazzy has been an essential part of the TriState Health family. Starting her career as a scanner, she has worked hard to grow into her current role as a department trainer and a second lead for her team.

On a typical day, Jazzy and the CCS team work behind the scenes to support our clinics, ensuring patient charts are fully built before appointments, managing E-Faxes, and updating charts with critical outside medical records.

Her director highlights her impact on the team, noting, “No matter what the situation is, Jazzy always has a smile on her face. She has a wealth of knowledge and is our ‘go-to’ for almost everything. Jazzy is a great asset to the CCS department and to TriState Health. I appreciate everything she does!”

If you haven't attended one of our Healthy Bites Workshops, you should; they are a hit! Last week, Registered Dietitian Jennifer Raykovich led two engaging sessions on building and maintaining strong bones.

Because the response was so overwhelming, we added a second class last week—and both were full! Jennifer highlighted the vital role that calcium and other key nutrients play in your daily diet in supporting bone strength, preventing osteoporosis, and promoting overall wellness.

Attendees received a live culinary demonstration and a delicious taste test of our monthly Healthy Bites Recipe, Cheesy Zucchini Frittata! 🧀
