🚨 HEALTH ALERT: MEASLES CASE REPORTED LOCALLY 🚨

A confirmed measles case was recently reported in the Nashville/Middle Tennessee area. Tennessee health officials have urged residents to be aware of symptoms and make sure they are protected.

Common symptoms of measles include:
🌑️ High fever
🀧 Cough
πŸ‘ƒ Runny nose
πŸ‘€ Red, watery eyes
πŸ”΄ A red, blotchy rash that often begins on the face and spreads to the rest of the body

Measles is highly contagious and can spread through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The MMR vaccine is the best protection against measles.

πŸ‘‰ Check your vaccination records and make sure you and your children are up to date on MMR vaccination.

⚠️ If you develop symptoms or believe you have been exposed, call your healthcare provider BEFORE going to the office, urgent care, or ER. This allows the facility to take precautions to protect other patients and staff.

Let's work together to keep our families and community healthy! ❀️

Why is Hepatitis B important to receive after birth? It helps to prevent the transmission during the birthing process of an infected mother. Mother's can be carriers of the virus and not know they have Hepatitis B until it is affecting the liver. With completion of the Hepatitis B vaccine series, also helps protect the infant from caregivers that may have the virus as well.

Immunizing newborns against hepatitis B is critical to reduce chronic hepatitis B later in life. False claims that call this benefit into question jeopardize the health of children.
