AdaptAbility Co

AdaptAbility Co Adaptive training and life skills coaching for the special needs community. There's more than one way to the finish line. Start at adaptabilityco.com.

AdaptAbility Co is the training and life skills coaching Jake Parker does with the special needs community, out of Pinnacle Performance in Troy, Michigan, serving Oakland County and beyond. Adaptive movement, the daily-living skills that actually matter, and real relationships, all built around what each person can already do and where they can go next. Fourteen years of caregiving and coaching ar

e underneath all of it. The people most places underestimate are capable of so much more, with a push in the right direction. Everything lives at adaptabilityco.com: one-on-one and group training, a certification for the people who work with this community, an app on the way, a foundation taking shape so cost is never the reason a family goes without, a children's book series, and the Porch Light, a private community so nobody does this alone. Have someone in your life who's been underestimated? We don't ask for a diagnosis first. We ask what your person loves.

I made it official this week. The papers are signed. AdaptAbility Co is a real company now, on paper, the way it's been real in my chest for years.

I have to tell you what that actually means, because it was never about a logo or a website or an LLC.

Fourteen years ago I took a job because it was convenient. The first kids I worked with couldn't feed or help themselves, and somewhere in the blending of food and the figuring out of how to keep them happy, I found a side of humanity I fell in love with and never walked back from. I didn't pick this work. It found me, and it told me plainly what I was supposed to do with my life.

Everything since has been one thing leading to another. A summer program. A young man who would only train if we called it superhero training. A first shot at coaching I never saw coming, handed to me by people who had no reason to bet on me and did it anyway. A small gym, a name a client gave me, years of sessions in living rooms and on gym floors with the people most places had already written off. And now this. The real thing, with its real name, built to outlast any single gym or any single version of me.

Here's the part I mean most. I am not standing here because I'm special. I'm standing here because of every person who gave me a chance before I'd earned one, every family who trusted me with the person they love most, and every client who has taught me more than I ever taught them. I've spent fourteen years being handed things I could never pay back. The least I can do is build something worthy of all of it.

So here it is. adaptabilityco.com is live. The training and the weekly community class. A certification for the people who do this work every day and were never taught how it actually works. An app on the way, for anyone priced out or aged out of the help they need. A foundation taking shape so cost is never the reason a family goes without. A children's book series. And the Porch Light, a private community so nobody does this alone.

If you have someone in your life who's been underestimated, written off, or aged out of something that was working, I'd like to meet them. The site doesn't ask for a diagnosis first. It asks what your person loves.

There's more than one way to the finish line. I'm just grateful I finally found mine.

Wait for the joy at the end 💙

To the man who never truly gives up:

You were told by doctors that you had severe limitations with lifting weight. We proved them wrong, YOU proved them wrong. The work and determination you've put into your journey with me makes me proud to be the person you trust to reach your goals.

185 pound deadlifts are no easy feat, and you hit the ball out of the park. Its been nothing short of amazing seeing your joy after accomplishing this, and seeing you work through what you thought couldn't be done. Keep being amazing, keep being yourself, you rock my friend
