When I say this review had me in my feels, I mean it! 🥹

Walking through birth is raw, intense, vulnerable, and exposes us to the greatest breadth of emotions a person could feel in a day. Getting to join any of my clients through this is so incredibly special! A privilege I never take for granted!

Still, this Mama holds a little extra special room in my heart. Jenna’s first birth was close to everything she did not want. It was nobody’s fault - just the tough hand she was dealt. She worked hard to make the best of it, and after the fact, we processed a lot. So when she sent me a pic of her double pink lines w/ baby number two, I was so happy to walk with her again! I hoped she’d get a second chance at that dream birth. Being a witness to her second birth, which went every bit as beautifully as her first birth was rocky, was one of those experiences a person never forgets. 💕

Baby Callum was born at 9:10pm last night! Weighing 7lb 10oz, this little boy made his Mama WORK for his arrival. After a quick dilation, we all expected transition and birth to go smoothly. Little did we know, Callum forgot to read the instruction manual on how to exit the womb. 😂 Sweet baby boy was born sunny side up! Oh and did I mention this was his Mama’s first labor and she was unmedicated? Yeah, she’s a superwoman!

(Sunny side up, aka OP, is a variation of a head down presentation where baby is facing up towards the mother’s belly, instead of down toward her spine. Some bodies birth OP babies easily, but usually it leads to a longer, more difficult and painful birth.)

Thank you to this kind Mama for her words! 💖

Something that comes up often when talking with clients - Will having a doula take the place of my husband / other support people in the room? And while hiring a doula is such a smart choice if that additional support person can’t be there, I work hard to center the mama’s loved ones in her story. 💖

Baby Crew joined us at 2:04am last night! He is 6lb 8oz and 19.5” long. His first-time Mama got the unmedicated birth she dreamed of! Crew was born on hands and knees and Mama pushed for all of 4 minutes. The doctor made it just in time! He was welcomed into the world by Daddy and Great-Grandma Betsy! 💖

Things I would say to expecting mamas, if I wasn’t afraid to hurt your feelings -

(Jumping on this trend with the major disclaimer that for every rule, there is an exception. I can think of at least one scenario for all of these that should ignore what I have to say. 😂 And I’m never this frank in real life.)
