Bethel Jane "Janie" Collett, 64, of Jeffersonville, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and dear friends. Born on March 20, 1962, in Mount Sterling, she was the daughter of the late Charles Douglas and Edith Norman.
Janie devoted her life to her family, especially her daughter and grandchildren, always putting their needs before her own. Her strength, sacrifices, loyalty, and unconditional love shaped the lives of those around her in ways words can never fully express.
A hardworking woman throughout her life, Janie spent many years as a cross-country truck driver, demonstrating incredible strength, determination, and resilience while always ensuring her family came first. She was also known for "telling it like it was," and those who loved her will forever remember her honesty, humor, and caring heart.
Janie was a cherished mother, proud grandmother "GiGi," sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Sturgill (Joshua), and her three grandchildren, Braxton Bryant (Jyonna), Ryland Bryant (Kailee), and Madeline-Jane Sturgill, all of whom were the pride and joy of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Deborah Stacy-Shouse.
Janie leaves behind many loving family members and countless friends who will deeply miss her presence, kindness, laughter, and the love she gave so freely. Though she may no longer be here physically, her memory and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her sister, Diane Willoughby; her dear friends, Debbie Crump, Kay Howard, and Rick Witham; her medical transport driver, Glenn Douglas; and the compassionate staff at Fresenius Kidney Care. Your constant support, friendship, and care helped fill so many of Janie's days including her final days with comfort, love, and companionship. Your kindness and support will always hold a special place in the hearts of her family.
