We’re seeing more clients with MCAS than ever before.
As awareness grows, more individuals are finally finding explanations for symptoms that have often been misunderstood or overlooked.

At MNT, we help clients develop personalized nutrition strategies that support symptom management while maintaining the flexibility and nourishment needed for long-term health.

Because when it comes to complex conditions like MCAS, understanding the “why” behind symptoms can be incredibly empowering.

Summer often brings a little more breathing room for student athletes & that makes it the perfect time to focus on nutrition.

During the school year, athletes are balancing practices, games, strength training, travel, homework, and packed schedules. Nutrition often becomes an afterthought.

But summer offers a unique opportunity to slow down and build skills that can make a big difference when the season starts.

☀️ Experiment with new breakfasts and snacks
☀️ Learn how to fuel different training demands
☀️ Practice recovery nutrition
☀️ Improve hydration habits
☀️ Build confidence in the kitchen
☀️ Address concerns like low energy, GI issues, or picky eating

Nutrition isn’t something athletes should figure out on their own. Like strength, speed, and skill development, fueling is something that can be learned and practiced.

The habits built this summer can support performance, recovery, growth, and confidence all year long.

Swipe through for a few reasons why summer is the ideal time to work with a sports dietitian.

Life feels richer when we slow down enough to really notice it.

In this episode, Jen shares personal reflections on running, body image, productivity, and the quiet habits that shape our everyday lives. Together, we explore what it means to “look” instead of simply think and why questioning our assumptions can open the door to freedom, clarity, and self-compassion.

“We get a wider lens on things…”

This conversation is a gentle invitation to pause, reflect, and maybe even break free from some of the cages we didn’t realize we were living in.

A thoughtful episode for anyone feeling stuck in old patterns, self-judgment, or the pressure to always be doing more.

“Losing your period is normal for athletes.” Nope.

Common? Yes.
Healthy? No.

After puberty, your menstrual cycle is an important sign that the body has enough energy to support normal hormone function.

A missing period can be a sign of REDs (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport), where the body doesn’t have enough energy to support both training and normal body function.

And no, you do NOT have to be underweight for this to happen.

A missing cycle deserves attention, not dismissal.

Your period is health information.

Women deserve credible, evidence-based support, not expensive wellness marketing built on weak science that states things like:

“Balance your cortisol.” “Fix adrenal fatigue.” “Support your stress hormones.”

The wellness industry has turned cortisol into a villain & many supplements promise a quick fix.

But cortisol itself isn’t bad. It’s an essential hormone that helps your body respond to stress, regulate energy, and function normally.

What is real is chronic stress.
Long-term stress can absolutely impact sleep, mood, focus, energy, recovery, and overall health. But the idea that your adrenal glands are simply “burned out” is not supported by medical evidence.

But “cortisol support” supplements have little evidence and short-term data. That doesn’t mean that every ingredient in the supplement doesn’t offer some kind of benefit, but most supplements overstate what the science actually shows.

The best-supported ways to help regulate the body’s stress response are still the basics:
✨ sleep
✨ movement
✨ stress-management skills
✨ therapy/support systems
✨ adequate nourishment
✨ recovery
✨ reducing chronic overload where possible

Seek support rooted in science, compassion, and transparency

We often push through afternoon exhaustion powered by caffeine, sugar, or pure willpower.

But if the chance to rest was possible, research shows it is WORTH it!

A short 15–30 minute power nap may help improve alertness, mood, focus, and mental stamina, without interfering with nighttime sleep when timed appropriately.

As we honor Mental Health Awareness month - taking a power nap is a beautiful way to respect the body’s need for mental and physical recovery.

We love when our clients share fresh ideas with us. ❤️

Recently, one client shared her higher-protein, air-fryer veggie pasta sauce — and we immediately wanted to try it ourselves.

Roast or air fry your favorite vegetables, then blend them with marinara sauce + cottage cheese for a creamy, protein-packed pasta sauce that also boosts plant variety.

Perfect for nights when you’re craving a comforting pasta dish but still want to pack in more plants and protein.
✨ Simple
✨ Flavorful
✨ Flexible
✨ Plant-forward

Thanks for the inspiration, client!
