There are so many incredible people working in the birth space, but the postpartum community is still relatively small.
This work has shown me over and over again just how needed postpartum support is. Even families with incredible villages can benefit from someone who specializes in postpartum care. Someone trained to notice what others may not see, anticipate needs, offer resources, and care for the mother. At the same time, everyone else is focused on the baby.
The work I do doesn’t end when I leave someone’s home. When I’m not with my own kids, I’m often in another family’s home. And when everyone is sleeping, I’m getting up early or staying up late to write emails, create resources, educate, make videos, build workshops, and try to grow a business I believe in with my whole heart.
I’m sharing this because I always want to be transparent. I love this work, and I believe in it more than ever. But meaningful work can be beautiful AND heavy.
Right now, I’m learning how to hold both.
