May is Maternal Mental Health Month 💚

Maternal mental health matters during every stage of motherhood - from pregnancy, to postpartum, to the many transitions that come after. While becoming a mother can be beautiful, it can also feel overwhelming, isolating, exhausting, and emotionally heavy at times. Conditions like postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and birth trauma affect so many mothers, yet many suffer silently because they feel ashamed, afraid, or misunderstood.

The truth is: struggling does not make you a bad mother. Needing support does not make you weak. You deserve to be cared for too.

As a doula with Sweet Pea Doula Services, I believe emotional support is just as important as physical support. Every mother deserves to feel heard, supported, respected, and safe throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is remind someone they are not alone.

If you are struggling, please know there is support available, and your feelings are valid. And if someone you love is struggling, your compassion and understanding can make a bigger difference than you realize. 💚

Motherhood is powerful, beautiful, exhausting, emotional, and deeply personal. No two journeys look the same, and every story deserves care and support.

3 Things That Can Help Labor Progress Naturally

Labor isn’t something you have to “fight” - your body already knows what to do. Supporting it in the right ways can make a big difference ✨

• Movement – Walking, swaying, or using a birth ball can help baby move down and encourage steady progress
• Upright Positions – Gravity is your friend! Staying upright can help labor move along more efficiently
• Relaxation – A calm, supported body allows contractions to work more effectively (think breathing, dim lighting, and reassurance)

Today is Bereaved Mother’s Day 🤍

A day to honor the mothers who carry love and loss at the same time. The mothers whose babies are not in their arms, but forever in their hearts.

If this day belongs to you, I want you to know, you are not alone. Your motherhood is real. Your baby matters. Your story deserves to be acknowledged and held with care.

As a bereaved mother myself, I understand the depth of this kind of love and grief. It’s something that never leaves you - it becomes a part of you.

Because of that, I walk into my work with a deeper level of compassion and intention. As a doula, I support and hold space for all mothers - through every journey, every outcome, and every emotion that comes with it.
