At 50, this patient came to us because he had difficulty pronouncing his R’s, spoke softly, and mumbled. He had already undergone a partial frenectomy in his 20s.
But as he progressed through myofunctional therapy, a complete release, and rehabilitation, we began peeling back the layers.
He discovered other functional challenges that had been hidden for years by his body’s own compensatory mechanisms.
That’s why I call this an “onion case.”
Sometimes the concern that brings a patient to us is only the first layer.
