I had the pleasure of speaking on a panel for POEM with other perinatal mental health experts about parenting legacies and what it might look like to explore this in a therapeutic space for also! 🫶🏾

When I think about the word “legacy,” I think of . Lin Manuel Miranda sings of legacy: “What is a legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.” 🪴

When I think of my own legacy—with my clients and my baby—I think of planting seeds, teaching them how to water them and letting them take the wheel from there.

Last week during , I got to present on obstetric violence and how to improve outcomes in pregnancy and birth with less OV harm. It was my first time at the Shades of Blue Project conference but certainly not the last.

It’s always special to be in community with perinatal health workers, but there’s another level of support and appreciation when you look around the room and all the providers look like you 💙🩵 Kay Matthews created a beautiful space and I’m excited to continue to expand on the groundwork

Another year, another amazing PSICON! This year’s conference in LA was eye-opening. I walk away each year with my head feeling full, in the best possible way 🫶🏾

Endless connections, valuable information and a renewed sense of purpose and belonging. This community means so much to me and I’m so grateful to be a small part of advancing the mission and cause of Postpartum Support International 💓

This month, I’m introducing you all another professional in an ongoing monthly series to highlight other helpers in the field doing great work!

There’s something special about finding a therapist who feels both deeply professional and genuinely human — and that’s exactly what so many people experience with Jen Anders of Cherry Blossom Counseling. 🤍

At Changing Lanes Counseling Services, we love highlighting women in mental health who are making a real impact in their communities, and Jen is absolutely one of them. Rooted in the Kent/Tallmadge community she loves so much, Jen has created a welcoming, judgment-free space where people can show up exactly as they are.

Whether someone is navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship struggles, burnout, grief, or simply trying to reconnect with themselves, Jen leads with compassion, authenticity, and heart. Her heart for working with LGBTQ+ clients is essential in these times. Her calming presence and commitment to helping others feel seen and supported is what makes Cherry Blossom Counseling such a meaningful resource in Northeast Ohio.

Mental health care changes lives — and providers like Jen remind us what healing-centered care truly looks like. 🌸

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

Have you given birth and want to share your experience?

We’re recruiting participants to take part in a research study focused on understanding pregnancy and birthing experiences.

Participation begins with a short pre-study survey. If selected, participants will be invited to complete a one-hour recorded virtual interview.

By sharing your story, you can help bring greater awareness to women’s experiences in maternity care and support more respectful, dignified care for others.

Black Maternal Health Week takes place April 11–17, 2026 during National Minority Health Month.

Started by , this year’s theme, “Rooted in Justice and Joy,” reminds us that Black maternal health is not only about survival. It is also about dignity, healing, support, wellness, and the right to be fully cared for.

We’re not new to this. Black women suffer from the highest rates of maternal mortality across all demographics in the USA. We deserve change! Black mothers deserve care that is safe, affirming, culturally responsive, and compassionate.

Always.

We’re ready to receive you, whenever you’re ready! 🖤

If 2025 had a Wrapped for motherhood...
Black mamas would be the headliners.
Because this year, you held everything:

✨Your baby
✨Your body
✨Your emotions
✨Your identity
✨Your family
✨Your healing

Even when the world demanded more strength than you had,
you kept showing up — with tenderness, protection, intuition, and love.

This year, you didn’t just grow a baby or raise a child.
You grew you -
in systems and spaces that weren’t always built to protect you.

Black mama, you did more than enough.
We celebrate you! 🖤✨

Save + share when you need a reminder of how magnificent you are 🫶🏾
