During Nursing Assistants Week, we’re proud to honor these amazing individuals for the invaluable contributions they make to our patients and our entire organization. Kaila V., RN, and a former nursing assistant, puts it best, “Without our nursing assistants, the hospital does not run. They are the backbone of the hospital. No matter what is needed, they’re there to deliver.” Kaila also credits being a nursing assistant for her current role as a clinical nurse. “I could not have become an emergency nurse without being a nursing assistant first,” says Kaila. “Working as an NA first showed me the kinds of critical patients I would see as a nurse. It also taught me all of the skills I would need to thrive in my current role.” If you’d like to work where your abilities are valued and where you can consistently grow your career, come to University Hospitals. https://tinyurl.com/54ebwp5k

There are many reasons people choose to join and stay at University Hospitals. For Kaitlin W., RN, UH Geauga Medical Center, it was her passion for helping people and wanting to work where that passion could be expressed to the fullest. As Kaitlin says, “Becoming a nurse has been one of the most meaningful journeys of my life. I have always been inspired by a desire to make a difference during some of the most vulnerable moments people face, and that passion continues to grow every day at UH.”

Working on a step-down unit at UH Geauga Medical Center has strengthened Kaitlin’s critical thinking, compassion, and ability to advocate for her patients. “One of the most humbling moments in my career was receiving the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses,” says Kaitlin. “It reflects the kind of care I strive to provide each day, where even the smallest acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. I’m grateful for my fellow nurses, managers, and the rest of my team! I am excited to continue growing as a nurse while making a difference in the lives of others.”

At University Hospitals, we believe compassionate care starts with meaningful connection among caregivers, patients and the communities we serve.

As we look ahead to June, Pride Month is an opportunity for our caregivers across the system to volunteer and show support of the LGBTQ+ community through participating in Cleveland’s annual event Pride in the CLE. Our caregivers can show solidarity through marching in the parade or expanding access to care through conversations and connection at a University Hospitals event table. We recognize the role that the LGBTQ+ community plays in the rich tapestry of our workplace and society, so the opportunity to a celebrate this community is something that our caregivers look forward to annually.

Here at University Hospitals, we strive to serve as a resource, connecting community members who are seeking primary and specialty care to trusted providers throughout our footprint.

Thinking about your next career move? At UH, we value the contributions of all caregivers and are committed to building a culture where everyone can thrive. https://tinyurl.com/3f6vrjx4
