Founded on July 29, 1775, at the request of General George Washington, the Army Chaplain Corps has served alongside soldiers and their families through every chapter of American history, providing care and unwavering support for 251 years.

07.27 – National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day
On this date, 73 years ago, the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed on July 27, 1953, ending active combat in a war that cost nearly 37,000 American lives and wounded more than 103,000 others. Generations of families were changed forever.
On National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, we remember the veterans of the "Forgotten War" and their families. Their sacrifices are definitely not forgotten.

July 25th is National Hire a Veteran Day, and it's a cause close to our hearts.
We know supporting veterans and military families doesn't stop at the hospital door. It extends to every part of life, including the moment a veteran transitions out of uniform and into the civilian workforce.
Every year, approximately 200,000 service members leave the military and begin rebuilding their lives. Finding meaningful employment is one of the biggest hurdles they face.
Today, we encourage you to:
• Hire a veteran if you have the opportunity
• Share job resources with veterans in your network
The veteran community is one of the most skilled, disciplined, and mission-driven workforces in the country.

When a Fisher House is full or unavailable, our Hotels for Heroes program ensures that military and veteran families still have a place to stay at no-cost.

Through donated hotel points, families are provided with hotel accommodations near VA or military medical centers, allowing them to remain close to their loved ones during treatment.

This program supports families of wounded, injured, and ill service members, as well as veterans, ensuring they have a comfortable and supportive environment.
