The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26,1990 by President George H.W. The ADA is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including employment, state and local government services and programs, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. The purpose

of the law is to make sure that individuals with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. ADA CLE organized, implemented, and promoted a number of community events aimed at increasing awareness and engaging in a celebration of the civil rights of individuals with disabilities. The culminating event, held 22 July 2015 at Wade Oval in Cleveland, Ohio, was a public celebration and reaffirmation of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the ADA. ADA CLE is comprised of agencies and organizations from Greater Cleveland who share in the mission to provide greater access and opportunity for individuals with disabilities. Along with their various constituencies, all of the agencies and organizations share a commitment to engaging the community at large in order to continue to spread awareness about the ADA and to ensure access for individuals with disabilities.
