Today, our team stepped away from the clinic for our annual DPCA Summer Retreat at Hiwassee Acres.
It was a day to reconnect, reflect, celebrate, and remind ourselves why we do what we do. It was also a chance to slow down, enjoy each other’s company, laugh together, and simply have fun. We rode horses, kayaked, fished, swam, played co****le and ping pong, and spent time building the relationships that make our team stronger. Taking time to recharge isn’t a luxury. It’s part of caring well for each other so we can continue caring well for our patients.
One of the most meaningful moments was hearing from a patient whose life was changed because our team refused to settle for “everything looks fine.” Through careful listening, persistence, and a commitment to doing what was right, an early cancer was found before symptoms ever appeared. His story was a powerful reminder that healthcare is about more than treating illness. It is about seeing people, asking one more question, and caring enough to make a difference.
Throughout the day, our team shared stories of patients, families, and moments that have impacted them over the past year. Those stories reminded us that every interaction matters and that the work we do reaches far beyond the walls of our clinics.
Thank you to our patients, employer partners, and community for trusting us with your care. It is a privilege we never take for granted.
DPCA exists to change the way our community accesses and pays for healthcare. That mission is bigger than clinics, appointments, or memberships. It is about making a lasting difference in the lives of the people we serve.
It is about people.
It is about showing up with integrity, kindness, courage, and a willingness to do more when someone needs us.
I am proud of this team.
They serve with heart.
They care deeply.
They change lives.
We are blessed to do this work, and I believe our best days are still ahead.
