On Monday, June 1st, PDSA and 24 ITP Warriors met with 35 Members of Congress to bring awareness to immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and to advocate for the creation of ITP Centers of Excellence — a vital initiative that would bring expert, comprehensive care to ITP patients nationwide. We also hosted a congressional briefing luncheon where one of our ITP Warriors shared their personal journey with more than 30 congressional staffers, highlighting the real‑world impact of ITP.

Primary Immune Deficiency Week reminds us that immune conditions don’t always look the same. It is a reminder that when the immune system is weakened, it can also become confused. Some patients with a primary immunodeficiency not only struggle to fight infections — their immune system may mistakenly target their own cells such as platelets which can leading to ITP. Understanding this connection helps us support earlier recognition and better care.
