Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there!

As a busy mom, dermatologist, and content creator, I am beyond thankful for my husband, Eddy, and all he does for our little family! πŸ‘ͺ

I have loved seeing him be a wonderful father to our son, David, and can't imagine life without him! πŸ’•

Today, I surprised him with an all-day cabana poolside relaxation + spa services.....experiences and moments are what he loves!

How are you spending Father's Day today?

As we enter summer, there are a few things you may want to consider in your skincare routine to ensure you're treating your skin as best as you can in this hot weather! πŸ‘‡

Tip 1️⃣: Up your water intake πŸ’§ Before you focus on what your putting ON your skin, let's think about what you're putting into it. Drinking more water can lead to more hydrated, beautiful skin. Plus, it's such an easy task to conquer!

Tip 2️⃣: Opt for a light moisturizer rather than the heavier creams you may use in the winter. With the heat (and being more likely to sweat), your pores could easily become clogged if you're using a super heavy moisturizer! Go lighter for the summer!

Tip 3️⃣: Did you think I was going to skip over sunscreen? Of course not! 🀩 Be sure to apply sunscreen every morning and re-apply often, especially if you're outdoors! Don't just restrict your sunscreen to just your face, either! Apply it to all areas exposed to the sun! Pro tip: Don't forget the SPF lip balm!

Which tip(s) are you taking away from this post? Let me know in the comments! πŸ‘‡

If you've been following me for a while, you're probably aware of my #1 mission: Teaching superwomen how to break the cycle of skin cover up and learn to love their skin πŸ₯°

Today, I want to inspire you to STOP trying to cover up anything you may consider an "imperfection"!

When you wake up in the morning, look at yourself in the mirror β€” whatever state your skin is in, be grateful! Be thankful!

And at the same time, know that with consistency, clarity, and confidence (the three Cs to healthy skin), you’ll achieve the skin of your dreams!

This is about progress β€” not perfection.

Even if you wake up to new blemishes, don’t be discouraged β€” this happens to all of us, but with the right products and skincare routines, we can all have glowing, radiant skin!

Now, I love makeup, and you should absolutely love how your skin looks with makeup on!

But at the same time, know that confidence comes from the inside β€” your face is glowing because your heart is glowing!

You don’t have to cover up your skin!

Instead, love it! Embrace it!

And let your skincare routine make it shine! ✨

In honor of June being Acne Awareness Month, I thought it'd be helpful to break down the top two most common acne-fighting ingredients: Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid ⬇️

☝️ Benzoyl Peroxide: This ingredient helps to open up your pimples while also lowering the levels of existing acne causing bacteria 🦠

✌️ Salicylic Acid: This can help to remove excess oil and dead cells from your skin, which helps to dry out those pesky pimples πŸ‘‹

If you have acne-prone skin, I know you've probably heard of these ingredients, or at least seen them on the ingredients list of the products you're using.

I believe it's really important to not only know which products to buy to best help your skin, but also to understand WHY these products help your skin!

Have you heard of either of these ingredients? πŸ‘‡

Should your skincare routine stop at the jawline or continue on to your neck and chest area? πŸ‘€

The simple answer: Yes! But, not every step to your skincare routine needs to be used on the neck and chest area.

So, which steps should you be continuing on the area? πŸ‘‡
1️⃣ Sunscreen! If your neck and chest area is going to be exposed, be sure to carry your facial sunscreen down to the neck and chest area! This is the most important step for the area, so don't skip out on it πŸ™Œ

2️⃣ Cleanser! Be sure to cleanse the neck and chest area to remove makeup, sweat, and dirt.
πŸ‘‰ Derm tip: Keep a cleanser in the shower so you can apply the cleanser to the area while showering without making a mess at the bathroom sink!

3️⃣ Vitamin C! Although this step isn't a must, it's definitely a cherry on top to maintain healthy skin on your neck and chest area!

4️⃣ Moisturizer! Last but not least, keep the area moisturized!

I love using Nectifirm Advanced neck cream product! This is my current evening skincare product for my neck + chest area.

Do you use any products on your neck and chest area currently? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

If I could scream anything from the rooftops... It might just be this! πŸ‘†

I am all about exfoliating 1-3x times a week, but using physical scrubs with beads is NOT healthy from your skin!

Instead, opt for a gentle exfoliator or chemical peel once every 2-3 months!

Don't forget to check all off these skin care to-do's off your list each day! πŸ‘

In the mornings you should be sure you're checking off:
βœ… Cleanser
βœ… Medication (if necessary)
βœ… Antioxidant Serum
βœ… Moisturizer
βœ… Sunscreen

In the evenings you should be sure you're checking off:
βœ… Cleanser
βœ… Medication (if necessary)
βœ… Retinoids or Retinol
βœ… Serum & Night Cream
βœ… Eye Cream

A few other reminds to do every so often:
βœ… Exfoliate about 1x per week
βœ… Mask whenever your heart desires
βœ… Chemical peel 1x every 3 months (ask your derm!)
βœ… Wash your pillowcases 1x per week

Which of these steps are you adding to your routine after seeing this post?

As May comes to an end, I have to give you one final reminder when it comes to preventing skin cancer: DO NOT TRY TO TAN! πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ

Sun damage leads to premature aging, which means we need to do everything in our power to avoid those harmful UV rays from the sun.

People often want to achieve tanned skin in the summer, either by going to the beach or the tanning booth, but this is only causing premature wrinkles, sunspots, and even skin cancer.

The peak time for sun damage is between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, so be sure to wear sunscreen every day β€” whether you’re outside or inside.

If you really want that sun-kissed glow, there are some great self-tanners out there that will help you achieve that look, and to be honest, self-tanning is less time consuming (and of course WAY safer) than tanning in the sun or a tanning bed!

Have you tried a great self-tanner yet? If so, drop your fav in the comments so I can give it a try! ✨
