Wave of Light brings us together to light candles in remembrance of babies gone too soon and honor the families who carry their love with them every day.

Thank you to PAIL (Pregnancy and Infant Loss Society), First Year Cleveland, The Charles Martin Corvi Fund, BBC’s OWN (Our Wellness Network)and all our partners for creating space for our community to gather in remembrance, comfort, and connection.

Let’s talk about it. 💜

Black families experience infant mortality at 3x the rate of white families. And here in Northeast Ohio, infant mortality rates remain significantly higher than the national average.

These disparities remind us that families need more than access to care. They need consistent, culturally responsive, community-based support before, during, and after pregnancy—support that recognizes the whole person and the many factors that shape maternal and infant health.

Our Senior Director of Training and Community Impact, Krista Lumpkins-Howard, recently joined Sound of Ideas on Ideastream Public Media to share insight on these disparities and how Birthing Beautiful Communities is working to change the story through holistic, whole-person care.

Because improving birth outcomes takes more than a medical appointment. It takes a community. 💜
