With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Clarice J. Mitchell (née Bell), a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved wife, who departed this life on June 4, 2026, in Clewiston, Florida. Born on December 1, 1941, in Waycross, Georgia, Clarice’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and kindness.

Clarice spent over two decades as a school bus driver, a role in which she found deep joy and fulfillment. Her days were brightened by the laughter and chatter of children, and she took immense pleasure in spending time with them throughout their school year, always ensuring their safety and comfort with a warm heart and gentle spirit. Her passion for nurturing young lives was just one facet of a remarkable life lived fully and generously.

Beyond her career, Clarice had a zest for life that was evident in her many hobbies and interests. She treasured her visits to River Ranch, where she could immerse herself in nature's beauty and unwind amid tranquil surroundings. Family and friends were at the core of her happiness, and she relished every moment spent in their company. A devoted churchgoer for most of her life, Clarice held dear her spiritual community at Turning Point Church of God until her declining eyesight made it too difficult to drive.

Traveling with her beloved husband Samuel in their motorhome opened doors to new adventures, offering them the chance to explore different states and deepen family bonds, especially with relatives in Cross City, Florida. Clarice and Samuel’s 69 years of marriage were marked by unwavering love and partnership, a beacon of devotion that inspired everyone who knew them.

Clarice is survived by her loving husband, Samuel W. Mitchell, who shared with her a lifetime of memories and steadfast companionship. She leaves behind cherished sons Paul Mitchell and Ronnie Mitchell, who carries the memory of his late wife Delores Mitchell in his heart, and daughter Tammie Mitchell Green, who remembers with love her late husband Jimmy Green. Her brother Joseph Bell of Cross City, Florida, remains a source of fond family memories.

Her legacy blossoms through her beloved grandchildren: Cameron and Rikki Mitchell of Culpepper, Virginia, Ferris and Tim Muller of Madisonville, Tennessee, Jennifer Mitchell and her husband Jimmy of Clewiston, Florida, Wendy Mitchell and her husband Michael of Clewiston, Christina Green Smith and her husband Tommy of Clewiston, and Chasity Greene with her husband John of Bristol, Florida. The love she poured into her family expands even further to embrace twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, each carrying a spark of Clarice’s warmth and kindness.

The community is invited to honor Clarice’s life during visitation on June 12, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Turning Point Church of God located at 207 Pine Lane, Clewiston, FL 33440. Her funeral service will be held at the same location on June 13, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Ridgelawn Cemetery, 520 Ridgelawn Road, Clewiston, FL 33440, at 11:30 a.m.

Mary Lillian Worden, 86, of Clewiston, Florida, passed away on May 20, 2026.

Mary was born on July 31, 1939, in Saint Cloud, Florida, to Walton and Viola Tyson. She married the love of her life, James Worden, on December 15, 1954, and together they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and resilience.

Mary was the mother of three daughters: Terry Brack, Kristine Brack, and Kathy Krell. She was a grandmother to eight grandchildren: Jennifer Krell, Jessica Krell, Larry Lamb, Joseph Lamb, Joshua Brack, Tammy Blackwell, Jesse Irwin, and Daniel Brack. She was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Worden; her grandchildren, Jessica Krell and Larry Lamb; and her siblings, Lester Tyson, William “Bill” Tyson, Robert “Bob” Tyson, Logan Tyson, Margie Hall, and Rose Padgett. She is survived by her brother, Leslie Tyson; her daughters; six of her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchildren; and many family members and friends who will never forget her.

Mary was affectionately known by many as “Granny Worden.” She was known for keeping everyone fed, working harder than most people half her age, and making sure no one got away with sleeping too much, gaining too much weight, or doing a job halfway. Mary drove a school bus for more than 50 years, and in between runs she built fiberglass airboats, skinned gators, processed meat, raised chickens, and worked in her garden. She had the kind of wisdom that comes from a lifetime of doing, building, growing, fixing, and figuring things out. She could grow food, graft plants, raise animals, and get things done with sheer will, grit, and determination. She loved flowers, gardening, playing cards, going to the casino, and spending time with children and family.

Her family will remember her for her toughness, her humor, her work ethic, her cooking, her honesty, and her fierce love. She may have been hard-headed, but she was also deeply loved, and her strength will live on in the generations she helped raise.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First Methodist Church of Clewiston, located at 331 West Osceola Avenue, Clewiston, FL 33440.

Mary’s life was full, her hands were never idle, and her family was never left wondering where they stood. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Ray C. Hull, Jr. of Clewiston, FL, a respected cattleman, agricultural leader, and devoted family man, passed away on May 26, 2026 in Sunrise, FL. He was born May 29, 1950 in Fort Myers, FL to the late Ray C. Hull, Sr. and Rosa Lee Hull. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Virginia Candace Crooks Hull. Survivors include his daughter: Heather H. Burmeister (Jim) and grandchildren Natalie and Andrew, son: Clint Hull, sister: Laura Brightman (George), sister: Glenda H. Willis (Jack), brother: Gary B. Hull (Donna), and sister: Rosa Hutcheson (Chuck), as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will remember him with love and admiration.

Ray was a lifelong advocate for Florida agriculture and a proud member of both the Hendry County and Florida Cattlemen’s Associations. He provided strong leadership on the Hendry County Cattlemen’s Board of Directors and served as the President before retiring from his active role in the Association. He was mentor to many new and young members. Ray was frequently involved in the Florida Cattlemen’s Association legislative quarterly “Boots on the Hill” events in Tallahassee, helping ensure that the voices of Florida’s ranchers and agricultural producers were heard. Ray’s dedication and contributions to the cattle industry earned him recognition as the 2013 Florida Association of County Agricultural Agents Agriculturalist of the Year. He also served on the Florida Farm Bureau Board for many years. Along with managing and operating the Ray C. Hull Ranch in Devil’s Garden most of his life, Ray also co-owned Fin and Feather where he guided hunts for many to enjoy.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church in LaBelle, FL. Ray wholeheartedly believed in the Cattlemen’s scholarship program. Grace Taylor, affectionately known as "Granny Grace," passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, in Lake Placid, Florida, at the age of 89. Born on October 2, 1936, in Dothan, Alabama, Grace lived a life marked by sweetness, kindness, and an unwavering loyalty that defined her role as a loving wife and cherished matriarch.

Grace's presence was a warm embrace to all who knew her. She was a truly sweet and protective soul, whose kindness radiated in every interaction and whose loyalty was beginning to a steadfast bond with her family and friends. Her heart was most deeply felt through her exceptional talents in the kitchen—she was an excellent cook whose meals were as nourishing to the spirit as they were to the body. Beyond her culinary artistry, Grace delighted in the simple joys of life, including the pleasures of shopping and the special ritual of getting her hair, nails, and toes done, moments that reflected her graceful nature and zest for self-care.

She was the devoted wife of Herbert O'Neil Taylor, now lovingly remembered after his passing. Her legacy continues vibrantly in the lives of her beloved children: Sheree Taylor Humphries, April T. Etherton (and her husband Malcolm), and Beth Alison Bowers (with her husband Kenny). Grace was also a treasured grandmother to Shelley Jones (and Jason), Jodi Etherton, Kenny Bowers IV (with Perla), Savannah Bowers, and Waylon Bowers. Her loving presence extended even further through the generations to her great-grandchildren—Kaelyn, Leilah, Xavier, Elijah, Aria, Tylee, Isabella, Sophie, Milo, and Lily—who each carry forward her spirit.

The family will gather to honor Grace’s life with a graveside service on June 2, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Ortona Cemetery, located at 8898 Florida 78, Moore Haven, FL 33471. This service will be a heartfelt occasion for those who loved her to celebrate a remarkable life well-lived.

John Monroe Stitt

John Monroe Stitt lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. A devoted husband, father, beloved Papaw, mentor, and friend, he touched countless lives with his steady guidance, generous spirit, and deep love for those around him.

Born in Seattle, Washington, in 1938, John moved with his family to South Florida at an early age, settling in Miami Springs. As a teenager, he helped his father develop family land near Clewiston into a thriving cattle operation—an experience that sparked a lifelong dedication to agriculture and stewardship of the land.

After graduating from Clewiston High School, John earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in Animal Production from Texas A&M University. Following service in the Air Force Reserve, he returned home in 1964 to manage the family ranch, beginning a career that reflected both hard work and deep commitment to Florida agriculture.

John and his wife, Sandra, built a loving home and raised three daughters, all of whom were involved in ranch life. He was known for offering wise counsel—often delivered with animated “encouragement”—and for showing up wholeheartedly for his family. Whether driving the ski boat, chaperoning livestock judging trips, attending horse shows, or helping wrangle show steers at the county fair, John created memories that his family will cherish for generations.

As the years passed, cattle operations evolved into sugarcane and citrus farming, yet John’s role as a steward of the land and advocate for South Florida agriculture remained constant. He was deeply respected throughout the agricultural community for both his leadership and vision. Outside of work, his greatest joy was fishing, and some of his happiest memories were made on trips to the Florida Keys and the Bahamas with family and dear friends.

John gave generously of his time and talents to his community. A faithful and active member of First Methodist Church of Clewiston for more than 60 years, he also helped organize the South Florida Agricultural Council and played an instrumental role in establishing the UF/IFAS Southwest Florida Research and Education Center. He held many leadership positions in the county and state Florida Cattlemen’s Association, was a trustee of Florida SouthWestern State College, and was an active supporter of the local and state Florida Farm Bureau. In 2022, he was inducted into the Florida Agricultural Hall of Fame.

John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sandra Willis Stitt; his daughters, Jennifer Stitt Mays and her husband, Steve Mays, and Rachel Stitt DeMay and her husband, David DeMay; and his cherished grandchildren, Madison DeMay, Luke Mays, Allison Mays, and Jackson DeMay.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Tillman Stitt and Christova Sawyer Stitt; his sister, Elizabeth Stitt Johnstone; and his daughter, Melissa Stitt.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clewiston, followed by a gathering at the First Methodist Church of Clewiston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the First Methodist Church of Clewiston.
