We're proud to introduce you to Schuyler Ridge's latest Employee of the Month! Meet Physical Therapist Sue Tullock (center). Sue is known to be patient, kind, and compassionate with our residents, always making sure they are comfortable. Well, while the National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C., was canceled due to extreme heat there, it didn't bother us here in the Capital Region as we hosted our own parade right here at Schuyler Ridge. We celebrated the nation's bicentennial with our own parade showcasing our cherished residents! The spirits were high and the smiles were wide here as each resident proudly lined up in a patriotic procession down our hallway enjoying nice cool air conditioning. Even Lady Liberty made an appearance in the form of Statue of Liberty Renee. Happy 250th Birthday, America!

We're excited to introduce you to our latest Employee of the Month here at Schuyler Ridge. Lindsey Beals, CNA, is described as always going out of her way to help residents and other staff. Known for a positive attitude and a warm heart, she even helps those residents who are not on her assignment. The same goes for her assisting other staff. We're proud that Lindsey was one of our own CNA graduates at Schuyler Ridge in November!

It's all about TEAMWORK here at Schuyler Ridge as we are committed to making each day a bright one for our cherished residents. Meet our latest Employee of the Month, Activities Aide Richard Cormack, who exemplifies that concept for us. Richard goes above and beyond in many ways. He exhibits kindness and is ever helpful all around. He is always there with his thinking cap to help figure out technology issues in the department. He is also known to dress to our themed days to make our residents smile. We're so glad you're part of the team. Congratulations, Richard! Schuyler Ridge has been full of festivities celebrating National Nursing Home Week and continuing now with May as Older Americans Month. Check out some of our favorite highlights, including resident Richard striking a dapper pose with his hat on Western Day! (Looking GOOD, Richard!) Resident Art ruled at our ice cream social. It was so special that he wanted to capture the moment with Dining Director Wesley and Assistant Amanda so he asked for his photo to be taken with them! Adorable! Other events included an iced coffee bar, and an all-staff BBQ with great raffle prizes! Both residents and staff had a great time! Thank you to everyone for their hard work and dedication to making these moments extra special for our residents!

Residents at Schuyler Ridge were treated to a delightful concert featuring some talented young musicians visiting from the Chinese Fellowship Bible Church in Niskayuna. The young performers captivated our residents with beautiful piano pieces as well as skillful selections using handbells! Bravo and thank you to the young performers!

When you think of a savory afternoon snack, these are probably not the first thing you think of, but here at Schuyler Ridge, you know we love to surprise our residents with new foods that are tasty and nutritious! This month, Executive Chef Amanda introduced something that it turns out our residents couldn’t get enough of -- beets! Yes, believe it or not, residents loved it so much it's outshining last month's favorite of dark chocolate! Beets are heart-healthy, help improve blood pressure, and low in calories. So next time you hunger for a good snack, try some beets for an extra boost of tasty energy!

Here at Schuyler Ridge, our residents just LOVE history, especially as presented by the Schenectady County Historical Society. At a recent visit, the group presented "Beyond the Pines," an educational program outlining the founding of the Electric City of Schenectady by the Dutch back in 1661. The residents love this program so much that they are already looking forward to the next presentation in the series! What interesting location do you think we will learn about next? Stay tuned!
