Intensive Family Support Services: Families with an adult mentally ill member can receive: Individualized consultation and support, educational workshops, support groups, and respite services. Community Advocate Program: The peer outreach support ream (P.O.S.T) is made up of individuals with life experiences with mental illness, who serve as mentors for other adults with mental illness living in t
he community. Individualized assistance is provided to develop social skills, educational, vocational, and recreational interests. Arab American Counseling: Arab American Counseling services provide confidential, culturally sensitive individual and family counseling to New Jersey residents of Arab American descent. Cultural competency training is also provided to organizations. Consumer parent support network: Parents with a mental illness can receive case management services, one-to-one peer support from another consumer parent, parenting education workshops, advocacy, and ongoing parent support groups. Involuntary Outpatient Commitment: IOC is court-ordered mental health monitoring, intensive case management, and treatment for mental health consumers who have been resistant to and have had difficulty engaging in outpatient treatment. The goals are to engage the mental health consumer in community-based treatment and to avoid repeated hospitalizations. Passaic County Police Crisis Intervention (CIT): Crisis Intervention Team Training (CIT) program is a community partnership of law enforcement, mental health and addiction professionals, individuals who live with mental illness and/or addiction disorders, their families, and other advocates. Together they volunteer their time to offer a 5 day, 40-hour intensive training for Law Enforcement that emphasizes mental health knowledge, crisis resolution skills, and access to community-based services. De-escalation techniques are taught to be combined with their active listening skills. Our goal is to use verbal communication before using force when interacting with an individual in a mental health crisis. Support groups (Pre-Registration is Required):
