Poor me or all about me? Both can live on the Victim side of the Drama Triangle.

The Victim role shows up as “I just can’t, please help me” or “my way is the right way, cater to me.” Either way, the pattern often includes blaming others for emotions, refusing to take responsibility for them, and needing lots of attention.

Part 3. New part every week. Missed Parts 1 and 2? They’re on our page.

Save this to come back to, or send it to someone who might recognize the pattern.

The best therapist on paper isn't always the best therapist for you.

It's normal to ask how to get started when choosing a therapist. Credentials tell you if someone is qualified, but they don't tell you whether they match what you're looking for. Swipe for how to get started when choosing a therapist, including how to know when they're the one.

Consultations to get started with our therapists are available at our Troy and Clinton Township offices; link in bio.

You don't have to be in crisis to be stuck.

Sometimes the hardest patterns to see are the ones in your own home. Swipe for signs that your family could use a neutral third person, like a therapist, who isn't part of the dynamic and can see it more clearly.

If some of these sound familiar, that's reason enough to reach out. Consultations are available at our Troy and Clinton Township offices: (586) 203-2715/opendoorcounselingcenter.com

Can't get through even the smallest task lately?
Swipe for 5 signs your mind is carrying too much, and a few small things that can help:
- Write your thoughts down so you can see them clearly rather than letting them swirl
- Step away from screens and devices for a short while.
- Take 5-minute micro-breaks throughout your day: deep breathing, short walks, and even stretching.

Implementing small changes can create a big impact on how you process your mental load. If the feeling lasts more than a couple of weeks or is affecting your sleep, work, or your relationships, then it may be worth talking to someone.

Schedule a consultation at our Troy or Clinton Township office: (586) 203-2715.

Always have to solve everyone else's problems?

That's the Rescuer in the Drama Triangle. Rescuers help even when no one asks, take on problems that aren't theirs, and often do it out of guilt or obligation. It looks like kindness, but it can keep the other person stuck by doing for them what they could do for themselves.

Noticing the pattern is the first step. Save this for the next time you catch yourself jumping in.

Part 2 of 6. New part every week. Missed part 1? Check our page!

Here's exactly what happens the moment you walk in for your first session.

You'll text your therapist that you've arrived; they'll come get you, and once you're in the room — it's your time. Talk about whatever you want.

No script, no pressure. Consultations available at our Troy and Clinton Township, MI offices. Link in bio.

You're not arguing about the dishes. You're arguing about whether you're on the same team.

Swipe for four common fights and what's usually underneath each one: dishes, money, in-laws, and phones. The last slide covers how to name the real issue out loud without starting another argument.

Send this to the person you keep having that fight with.

Same fight, different night. There's a shape to it, and it has a name.

It's called the Drama Triangle — three roles people move through during conflict: Persecutor, Rescuer, and Victim. This week we're doing a quick explanation of what it is and how it works.

Follow along — new part every Week. Part 1 of 6.
