Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who stepped forward in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the strength and unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

May we never forget. 🇺🇸

Pictures worth a thousand eye drops. 💧📸

These images show the oil glands inside a patient’s eyelids before and after treatment for Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), one of the leading causes of dry eye disease.

Before: Many of the oil glands are blocked, damaged, and difficult to see.

After treatment: More glands are visible and functioning, helping create a healthier tear film.

👁️ The secret to healthy tears may be hiding inside your eyelids.

These images show the meibomian glands—tiny oil-producing glands that create the outer oil layer of your tear film and help keep tears from evaporating too quickly.

As these glands become blocked, damaged, and eventually lost, the tear film becomes less stable, often leading to:

💧 Dryness
🔥 Burning or stinging
👁️ Fluctuating vision
💦 Excessive watering
😣 Eye fatigue

What can cause gland loss?
• Aging
• Chronic eyelid inflammation (blepharitis)
• Rosacea
• Incomplete blinking from prolonged screen time
• Contact lens wear
• Untreated dry eye disease

The grading scale shown here helps us evaluate the health of these glands and identify signs of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD).

In fact, approximately 85% of dry eye cases are related to MGD.
