3 Signs a Child May Need Someone to Talk To

Children do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling. Sometimes, changes in behavior can be their way of letting us know they need a little extra support.

1. Big changes in mood or behavior

More irritability, sadness, anger, worry, or emotional outbursts than usual.

2. Pulling away from others

Losing interest in friends, family, activities, or things they normally enjoy.

3. Changes at home or school

Trouble sleeping, difficulty concentrating, falling grades, frequent physical complaints, or changes in everyday routines.

One sign does not always mean something is wrong, but when changes continue or begin affecting daily life, it may be worth starting a conversation.

Sometimes simply giving a child a safe place to talk can make a big difference.

Life Connections is here to support children and families when they need it.

our story matters. Those are not just words to us.

At Life Connections, therapy is not about fixing people or pretending that change happens overnight. It is about creating a space where clients feel safe, heard, and supported as they work through the challenges life has placed in front of them.

Building trust takes time, and meaningful progress can look different for everyone. Our therapists are here to listen, meet clients where they are, and walk alongside them with honesty, compassion, and genuine care.

Let’s talk.

Meet Maliyah, LMSW!

Maliyah serves clients across the lifespan and is passionate about creating a warm, genuine, and supportive space where clients feel safe enough to be vulnerable, express themselves, and explore what they are experiencing. She works with clients navigating difficult life experiences, major life transitions, stress, and times when they may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward.

With experience in crisis counseling, Maliyah brings curiosity and genuine connection to her work. She believes therapy is not about having all the answers or fixing people. Instead, she works collaboratively with clients to explore their experiences, develop greater self-understanding, and recognize strengths they may not yet see in themselves.

Maliyah is now accepting new clients in Bellevue, IA. To learn more or reach out, visit Life-Connections.org

Stress is not always easy to recognize.

It can show up as feeling constantly tired, becoming frustrated more quickly, struggling to concentrate, avoiding people or activities, or feeling overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities.

Recognizing these changes is an important first step. Counseling can provide a supportive space to understand what you are experiencing, identify patterns, and develop practical tools for moving forward.

Life Connections is here when you are ready to talk.

💜 Parent Encouragement: Your Support Helps Children Feel Safe and Understood

Every child needs someone who believes in them, especially during life's challenges.

Your patience, encouragement, and willingness to listen help create a safe space where your child can grow, learn, and express their feelings. Even on the difficult days, your support reminds them they are loved, accepted, and never alone.

You don't have to have all the answers. Simply being present, offering reassurance, and celebrating small victories can make a lasting difference.

At Life Connections, we're here to support families every step of the way because when children feel safe and understood, they are better equipped to thrive.

💜 Every moment of love, patience, and connection matters.

Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is check in with yourself.

Life moves fast. Between work, family, responsibilities, and everything else on your plate, it’s easy to ignore how you’re really feeling.

Take a moment today to ask yourself:

How am I doing?

Not the answer you give everyone else. The honest one.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally drained, or simply not like yourself, you don’t have to push through it alone. Reaching out for support isn’t a sign that you’ve failed. It’s a sign that you’re choosing to care for yourself.

At Life Connections, we’re here to walk alongside you with compassionate, personalized mental health care designed to help you move forward, one step at a time.

At Life Connections, we believe people deserve a safe place to feel heard, supported, and understood. Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, our team is here to walk alongside you.
