🚨 CLINTON, IOWA — THIS IS OUR WAKE-UP CALL. 🚨
I am a Clinton resident, and I am asking you to STOP AND PAY ATTENTION.
I am firmly opposed to the proposed data center development in our community.
And no, I am not interested in being diplomatic about this.
I don’t believe we should simply accept promises from massive corporations about how little impact these facilities will have on our community and our natural resources.
We are talking about our WATER.
Our public water.
Our rivers.
Our streams.
Our land.
Our wildlife.
Our birds.
Our farms.
Our air.
Our electricity.
Our homes.
And ultimately, our children’s future.
Once these facilities are built, we don’t get to simply undo the consequences if we discover years later that the promises weren’t enough.
The companies building these massive facilities have enormous resources.
Clinton has to live with whatever they leave behind.
If data centers are going to be built, then I believe the burden should be on the companies to prove—before construction begins—that they can operate without putting our community’s natural resources and taxpayers at unreasonable risk.
I don’t want promises.
I WANT PROOF.
I don’t want our community making decisions based on projections supplied by the companies that stand to financially benefit from the project.
I WANT INDEPENDENT ANSWERS.
And most importantly:
I WANT CLINTON RESIDENTS TO HAVE A VOICE.
