What can a vibration plate do for us as we get older? I’m holding a squat in this video, and the goal is to remain steady. 😊
Below are just a few examples of what vibration plates are good for:
💪 Muscle strength. Your muscles contract and relax as you steady yourself on the moving platform. You can do things like squats that help your thighs and glutes, planks to work your core, and heel raises to work your calves. Some studies in older adults have found that regular vibration training can improve leg strength.
⚖️ Balance and everyday movement. Slow side-to-side weight shifts are one way to practice staying steady. Some studies in older adults have found improvements in balance and mobility. Those skills come in handy when we climb stairs or walk on uneven ground.
🧠 Helps your nerves and muscles work together. Your brain uses signals from your feet and muscles to sense where your body is and make little adjustments to keep you steady. That sense is called proprioception. You use it when you adjust to the moving platform, just like when you step onto an uneven sidewalk.
🌿 Helps with Lymph flow. When your leg muscles contract during movement, they help move lymph fluid along. That happens when you walk, too.
❓Have you tried a vibration plate? What do you like to do on yours?
If you’re curious about the vibration plate in the video, I’ve linked the exact one I use at home so you can check it out. 😊
