Happy Wound Healing Awareness Month! πŸŽ‰

One of the most common reasons for needing advanced wound care is diabetes related wounds.

If you have diabetes, you may have:
πŸ”· Sores caused by poor fitting shoes
πŸ”· A callus that causes a hole in your foot
πŸ”· A decreased ability to heal due to high blood sugars
πŸ”· Decreased blood flow in your toes that slows the healing process down

If you are suffering from non-healing wounds, CMH’s Advanced Wound Clinic can help. To schedule an appointment, please call 218-878-7601. No referral is required.

The sun is glittering through the trees, the air is warm, and a cool breeze passes through. Everything is great, until you feel that itching. The mosquitoes have arrived. 🌳🌻

For the most part, mosquitoes may are just an annoying part of the summer season in Minnesota. Sometimes, though, they can become a bigger problem, especially for kids.

Walk-in Care Physician Assistant Kate Kensrud shares what to do if your mosquito bites become swollen:
πŸ”· Apply ice
πŸ”· Try an over-the-counter steroid cream
πŸ”· Try an antihistamine
πŸ”· Avoid scratching

Scratching can lead to a secondary bacterial infection. Visit a provider if there is increased redness, increased swelling, honey colored crust, or pus coming from the site of the bite.

Walk-in Care is open weekdays, 8:30 AM-4 PM at CMH Raiter Family Clinic.

Is it good or is it bad? πŸ€”πŸ”

Not all cholesterol is created equal. Dr. Palmquist explains the difference between LDL and HDL cholesterol.

LDL
πŸ”· LDL = low-density lipoprotein
πŸ”· β€œBad” cholesterol
πŸ”· Causes plaque buildup in arteries, increasing heart attack and stroke risk

HDL
πŸ”· HDL = high-density lipoprotein
πŸ”· "Good" cholesterol
πŸ”· Removes bad cholesterol from arteries and carries it to the liver for disposal.

Maintaining proper cholesterol levels can decrease your risk of heart attack and stroke. High cholesterol has no symptoms, so many people don’t know that their cholesterol is too high. It’s important to visit a provider who can provide guidance on how often you should have your cholesterol checked.

Online scheduling is available for new and existing patients at https://healow.com/apps/practice/raiter-clinic-6629?v=2&locale=en or by calling 218-879-1271.
