More than an infusion nurse… she became someone who helped him keep fighting. ❤️
At 27 years old, Justin was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
The treatments were long, exhausting and overwhelming. With family living out of state, there were moments Justin felt alone walking into treatment here at Community Cancer Institute.
Then he met infusion nurse, Sharon.
She made it her mission to ensure Justin never felt like he was facing cancer by himself. Even on days she wasn’t assigned to his care, she would still stop by to check on him.
“I needed him to know he wasn’t alone,” Sharon said.
For Sharon, cancer care has always been about more than medicine. It’s about being there for patients during some of the hardest moments of their lives — reminding them they’re seen, supported and cared for beyond their diagnosis.
And for Justin, that support became everything. “She’s like a built-in best friend,” Justin shared.
On June 3, 2024, when Justin rang the bell, it wasn’t just about being cancer-free. It was the end of one of the hardest chapters of his life, and one he says he couldn’t have gotten through without Sharon’s support.
Today, they still text, check in on each other and continue cheering one another on through life beyond cancer. Because at Community Cancer Institute, care goes beyond medicine, it’s about making sure no one fights alone.
