Community, service, and giving back. ❤️

This past weekend, James J. Terry Funeral Home of Valley Township/Coatesville Supervisor and Licensed Funeral Director Bill Rafferty and his wife, Cathy Rafferty , took part in the Frederick A. Scott American Legion Post #777 of Crum Lynne, PA 2026 Corn Boil Barbecue Cookout Fundraiser Event.

For 50 years, this annual event has helped raise funds to support veterans, their families, and members of the local community. This year welcomed approximately 200 guests and marked the most successful fundraiser in the Post’s history!

Bill Rafferty, a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran, serves as Commander of the Frederick A. Scott American Legion Post #777 and Commander of the Sons of The American Legion Post Squadron #777 Organization. Cathy Rafferty is a member of the Frederick A. Scott Women's Auxiliary Organization.

Together, Bill Rafferty and Cathy Rafferty spent the day volunteering, helping with setup and cleanup, while Bill also served as the event’s “Grill Master.”

James J. Terry Funeral Home of Valley Township/Coatesville was pleased to recently host a free Lunch & Learn Seminar for members of our local community.

Supervisor and Licensed Funeral Director Bill Rafferty, along with Advance Funeral Planning Counselor Donna McCorkle, welcomed attendees for an informative discussion covering funeral and cremation options, veterans’ benefits, Social Security, and other important topics. Bill and Donna enjoyed the opportunity to meet with our neighbors, answer questions, and share helpful information in a comfortable and welcoming setting.

James J. Terry Funeral Home of Valley Township/Coatesville is proud to recognize Supervisor and Licensed Funeral Director Bill Rafferty for his continued dedication to serving both his community and our nation's veterans.

Recently, Bill attended the 2026 American Legion Department of Pennsylvania State Convention in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. A proud United States Marine Corps Veteran, Bill serves as Commander of the Frederick A. Scott American Legion Post #777 in Crum Lynne, Pennsylvania, as well as Commander of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #777.

During the convention, Bill had the opportunity to meet with United States Army Brigadier General Frank J. McGovern IV, Adjutant General of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, to discuss issues impacting today's veterans and active-duty military personnel.

Bill was also honored to accept two statewide awards on behalf of Squadron #777, recognizing the organization as the No. 1 Squadron in Pennsylvania for both the largest number of new members and the highest percentage increase in membership during 2026.

Congratulations, Bill, on these well-deserved achievements. Thank you for your continued leadership, your commitment to supporting veterans, and your dedicated service to the communities you serve.

A Sweet Gesture of Appreciation 💙

Today, James J. Terry Funeral Home of Valley Township/Coatesville Supervisor and Licensed Funeral Director Bill Rafferty visited The Inn at Freedom Village Health Center Memory Care Unit at Freedom Village of Brandywine to deliver cookie trays and brownies as a small token of gratitude.

This special visit was dedicated to the incredible nurses and CNAs who provide compassionate, around-the-clock care to residents living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Their dedication, patience, and kindness make a meaningful difference not only in the lives of the residents they serve, but also in the lives of their families.

James J. Terry Funeral Home of Valley Township/Coatesville wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to these healthcare professionals for the comfort, support, and dignity they provide every day. Bill also had the opportunity to meet with several members of the care team, who were both surprised and appreciative of the visit.

Community Appreciation Visit to AsceraCare Hospice

Yesterday, James J. Terry Funeral Home of Valley Township/Coatesville Supervisor and Licensed Funeral Director Bill Rafferty had the privilege of visiting the AsceraCare Hospice Program Headquarters in Exton, Pennsylvania, to deliver assorted cookie trays to the hospice nurses and administrative staff.

This small gesture was made in recognition of the extraordinary compassion, dedication, and support these healthcare professionals provide to patients and families during some of life's most difficult moments. Their commitment to delivering comfort, dignity, and specialized care makes a lasting difference throughout our community.

It was an honor for Bill Rafferty and the entire James J. Terry Funeral Home of Valley Township/Coatesville Supervisor team to express our gratitude and help brighten the day of these remarkable caregivers. Terry Funeral Home of Valley Township/Coatesville Supervisor and Licensed Funeral Director Bill Rafferty was honored to visit The Harrison House Independent Living and Personal Care Center in Coatesville this morning. During his visit, Bill delivered cookie trays to the facility's nurses, certified nursing assistants, and administrative staff as a token of appreciation for their dedication and service.

Cookie trays were delivered to both the first- and second-floor nurses’ stations, as well as the administration office. This gesture was intended to express gratitude for the exceptional care these healthcare professionals provide each day to the residents of Harrison House and their families.

Thank you for helping us recognize and celebrate the important work of these dedicated caregivers.
