Joan Marie Bogdansky

Joan M. Bogdansky (nee Kologie), 90, a longtime resident of Cocoa Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, surrounded by her cherished friends.

Born and raised in Wallington, New Jersey, Joan spent 31 years making Cocoa Beach her home. Joan was the beloved wife of Vincent, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Stanley Bogdansky of Saddle Brook, NJ; Sandra and Craig Steeneck of Naples, FL; and Thomas and Mae Bogdansky of Wyckoff, NJ. She was a loving grandmother to Ariana and Luke Elder, Matean, and Leila Rose. She is also survived by her sisters, Ellen Baron of Wallington, NJ, and Joyce Reimels of Vineland, NJ, as well as many dear friends who were an important part of her life.

Affectionately known as “Mrs. B.,” Joan had a special love for children and spent many years working as a lunchroom aide at Jefferson School in Wallington. She was beloved by the children she cared for and brought warmth, kindness, and a welcoming spirit to everyone around her. Joan enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved spending time at the pool, going out to lunch, shopping, and, most of all, being surrounded by the people she loved. She formed deep and lasting friendships with the many wonderful people in her Harbor Isles community in Cocoa Beach, who became like family to her. Joan will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of children, her warm personality, and the many friendships she treasured throughout her life. She touched the lives of so many and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A private memorial service will be held for Joan, with a celebration of life to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s memory to Providence Connects, 17 E. Hibiscus Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32901. This organization held a very special place in Joan’s heart.

Barry Plans

Barry Plans, 81, of Cocoa Beach, Florida, has gone to be with the Lord after a long struggle of putting up with all of us on July 13th, 2026.

From growing up in New York to eventually making his home in Florida, with plenty of adventures and people met along the way, Barry lived a full and meaningful life. In turn, he enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was a man who loved his country, proudly serving in the United States military before later working for the U.S. Department of Transportation.

This grumpy, lovable old man will be deeply missed by his daughter, Vicky Barkley; his grandchildren, Bailey and Shyler; and his loving companion, Jennifer. We take comfort in knowing that his wife, Regina, his grandson, Cameron, and his beloved cat, Garfield, were there to welcome him home.

A service to celebrate Barry’s life will be held at a later date. We welcome anyone who knew and loved him to join us as we say our final farewell.

Time may keep moving, but it’ll never move beyond him.

Dr. Robert "Bob" Edward Lehton

Remembering Robert Edward Lehton, a lover of God the Father, His son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

The Cocoa Beach community is mourning the loss of Robert Edward "Bob" Lehton who passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the age of 77. Bob was a man whose life was defined by service and leadership.

Bob was a teacher and counselor of the Scriptures, inspiring many people to follow Jesus. Bob thoroughly enjoyed studying the Word of God.

A clinical psychologist by profession, Bob spent his career devoted to the mental health and well-being of those he served. Beyond his practice, he was an accomplished surfer, sailor, and pilot—someone as much at home in the water and the air as he was in his office.

Bob was a devoted Torah student and enjoyed serving on the board at Seed of Abraham Fellowship in Merritt Island, Florida.

It was his passion for helping others that led him to found Servant Air Ministries and Crosswinds Youth Services, two organizations through which countless individuals in the community found support. Bob believed the true measure of a life well-lived was found in service to others, and he carried that belief into everything he did—whether coaching his children’s baseball teams or volunteering around the community.

A devoted father, Bob led by example, showing his family and everyone around him what generosity and commitment look like in practice.

He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Amy Gellert, and his sister, Jeni Bridwell. He is survived by his wife, Bunny Lehton; his three sons, Jason Lehton, Mark Gellert, Ryan Gellert and their spouses; his five grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Bill Bridwell; his niece, Amy Bridwell and her husband; and a community that is deeply grateful for the life he lived. His legacy of service will not be forgotten.

A service will be held at on 21 August 2026 at 11:00am at Seed of Abraham Fellowship (6355 N. Courtenay Pkwy. Merritt Island, FL 32953). In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to Amy’s Fund at Crosswinds Youth Services. Gifts may be made at

Timothy John Davies

Timothy John Davies, age 83, was born to eternal life July 13, 2026, at his home in Cocoa Beach, Florida surrounded by his two sons and wife of almost 58 years. Tim was born on September 23, 1942, in Waukesha, Wisconsin to Bill and Janet Davies. His parents also owned a property on Spring Lake in Mukwonago, Wisconsin where Tim and his two sisters spent many summers.

Tim graduated from Waukesha High School where he was a competitive athlete excelling in swimming and golf. He enjoyed scouting and became an Eagle Scout. Tim attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with a degree in Business. Shortly after graduating he met his soulmate Marcia and they were wed in August of 1968.

Tim and Marcia lived in Waukesha and eventually purchased his uncle Wayne’s cottage on Spring Lake which is where they raised their two sons, Brad and Trent. Tim spent countless hours after dinner with the boys throwing whatever ball was in season or playing ping pong in the winter. He also spent many years coaching both boys’ youth soccer teams. Tim served his community for 2 terms on the Mukwonago School Board.

Tim worked hard but was smart enough to spend time doing the things he really enjoyed. Most will remember him fondly either in a fishing boat, goose blind or hunting field, on a golf course or at a card table.

Tim was an avid Badger fan and was so proud that both of his sons graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Tim’s hard work allowed him and Marcia to snowbird in Cocoa Beach, Florida soon after Trent graduated from high school. He was able to continue his love of fishing and golfing year-round. Tim also stayed active in the athletic arena earning several medals as a swimmer in the Florida Senior Olympics.

Tim will always be remembered by his wife, Marcia (née Wieland) and his sisters Ann (Jerry) Shea and Linda (Gloria) Bailey-Davies and brother-in-law Bill Wieland (Mary Frey). Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Janet Davies and his sister-in-law Linda Ocker. His legacy will live on through his sons, Brad (Christy) and Trent (Lynn) and his five wonderful grandchildren Alex, Luke (Sophia), Jake, Ashley and Claire, who all exhibit his kindness and competitive spirit, his first great grandchild due in November and other friends and family.

As the years went on his body didn’t hold up, but his spirit for life never waned and he always had a smile for everyone he met. His was a life well-lived.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tricia’s Troops Cancer Connection. Private service to be held.

Steven Dutczak

Steven Dutczak of Merritt Island, Florida passed away unexpectedly on June 21,2026. Steve was born July 20, 1946, in a labor camp in Germany. In 1951, he and his parents emigrated to the US via Ellis Island and settled in Denver, Colorado.

He graduated from Regis College, where he met Joni, his beloved wife of 51 years. The couple spent their first two years of marriage teaching at Saint Stephen’s Mission in Riverton, Wyoming.

Steve and Joni were blessed with two daughters, Stefanie and Maggi. In 1974, the young family moved to Florida, where Steve went to work for NASA. He translated his love of teaching into becoming a NASA “space-mobiler”, traveling to schools across the southeast to teach young people about space and rocketry. He also completed a PhD in high energy physics.

Steve’s passion for teaching expanded to developing programs for educators to use in their classrooms. He was appointed the director of education at Kennedy Space Center where he developed the Educators Resource Center and teacher workshops. He also created the Exploration Station, a hands-on resource for students to actively learn about space. He was proud to be involved in the Apollo, Apollo-Soyuz, and Space Shuttle programs. After 35 years at NASA, Steve enjoyed his retirement but continued to work as a docent during recent launches.

Steve was a very kind man who loved working with his hands, including the meticulous repair of antique clocks. He enjoyed and was a member of the local Brevard County Zoo. He recently became active with the local North Brevard Widows/Widowers Group, enjoying meals and activities with the many friends he made there.

Steve was a devoted husband to Joni (Hefferin), a librarian. He loved and cared for her during a prolonged illness before her death in 2020. Steve was also preceded in death by his parents, Stefania and Dmytro. He is survived by his daughters, Maggi and Stefanie (Steve); beloved granddaughters, Allison and Sydney; brother Jerry; and his loving companion Ann Bard.

While Steve embraced his Ukrainian heritage, he was proud to be a naturalized citizen and grateful for the opportunities America gave him. He enjoyed the accomplishments of his family. Stefanie is a general surgeon in Colorado, and Maggi is an engineer continuing the family tradition of working at NASA.

A funeral mass will be held at the Church of Our Savior (5301 N Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931) on July 17th at 1pm followed by a burial in the adjacent St Francis Memorial Garden and a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Brevard Zoo in his memory using the following link:

Ivan Harvey Shokes Jr.

We honor the long, vibrant, and uniquely storied life of Ivan Harvey Shokes, Jr. ("Harvey"), who left us on June 6, 2026, at age 90. His journey began on October 31, 1935, in Charleston, South Carolina, where he grew up with three younger siblings: sisters Carolyn Aletha Shokes and Charlotte Beverly Shokes, and his brother Ronald Clarke Shokes, who tragically passed away before adulthood.

From a young age, Harvey displayed the hallmark traits that defined his life. He cultivated his athletic abilities swimming the notoriously dangerous currents of the Wappoo Cut. Later, transitioning to golf, he once stunned a high school opponent by scoring one under par. His industrious entrepreneurial spirit also manifested early, whether recruiting his sister to sell boiled peanuts or cutting grass in the hot South Carolina sun.

After high school, Harvey served two years in the Marine Corps, funding his education at The Citadel under the Korean GI Bill. By his own admission, he was an undisciplined student in most subjects, but demonstrated a natural aptitude for math, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Science in physics. It was during his time at The Citadel that he met Constance ("Connie") Fernandina Meyer at an Arthur Murray Dance Studio. The two eloped in 1958.

Upon graduating, Harvey worked at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was recognized with an award for technical achievement by the U.S. Army Missile Command. As he liked to quip, even if something required a rocket scientist to understand, he actually was one. However, the greatest span of his career was spent in Langley, Virginia, where he served in the Central Intelligence Agency and, upon his retirement, received a personal letter of thanks for his service from CIA Director William Casey.

Following his retirement, Harvey and Connie settled in Cocoa Beach, Florida. There, he resumed the real estate investing he first practiced in Alabama and spent many an hour trading, or as he called it, "playing," the stock market. Until his passing, he remained a passionate reader of scientific magazines, deeply excited by the future of space exploration and artificial intelligence.

Harvey is survived by his children: Constance Lynette Shokes Wagner, Tamara Elaine Shokes, and Ronald Harvey Shokes; his grandchildren: Andrew, Lora, and Harrison Wagner; his great-grandchildren: Henley and Teagan Wagner; and his sister, Carolyn Shokes Sime. To his children, he leaves behind a legacy of intellectual curiosity, a wonder for unbounded possibilities, and—perhaps to varying degrees—a bit of stubbornness.

We ask that in lieu of flowers please make online gifts in memory of Harvey to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.

Ronald J. Vitale

With broken hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Ronald J. Vitale on May 30, 2026, at the age of 77.

Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. He was a man who could be a force to be reckoned with—strong-willed, passionate, and never afraid to speak his mind—but beneath that strength was a heart overflowing with love for his family. Nothing meant more to Ron than the people he loved, and he made sure they knew it every day.

Born on December 30, 1948, in Manhattan, New York, Ron built a life centered on family, friendship, hard work, and dedication. He enjoyed a successful career as an accountant and took great pride in his profession. Even after retirement, he continued working because he genuinely loved what he did and believed in giving his best effort to everything he pursued.

Ron was rarely alone. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and creating memories that will now be treasured forever. His home and heart were always open, and he had a remarkable way of making people feel welcomed and valued.

A lifelong and devoted New York Yankees fan, Ron loved watching games with his family, cheering on his team, discussing every play, and enjoying the simple moments spent together. Those Yankees games, filled with conversation and laughter, will forever be cherished by those who sat beside him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Vitale; his children, Carrie Ann Brozny and Steve Brozny, John Vitale and Norma Vitale, and Matthew Vitale; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Tyler, and Matthew Vitale; his step-grandsons, Connor and Dylan Brozny; his brother, John Vitale and his wife, Debra; his sister, Donna Hopkins and her husband, Dennis Hopkins; along with many extended family members and countless friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Vitale and Christine Vitale.

Ron leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, determination, hard work, and devotion to family. While his sudden loss has left an immeasurable void in our hearts, we find comfort in the memories he gave us, the lessons he taught us, and the love that will remain with us forever.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Homes and Crematory, 5400 Village Drive, Rockledge, Florida 32955. A casual reception celebrating Ron’s life will immediately follow at the Viera Regional Community Center, 2300 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera, Florida 32940.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever missed.
