Peace Club

Peace Club We’re taking what’s proven to work in opioid recovery and leaving the parts that don’t.

We help individuals and communities recover from mental health and addiction issues using evidence-based practices that address the whole human- biological, psychological, social, and spiritual. Our goal is to take the best from the mental health and addiction industry and add the pieces we believe are missing: quality over convenience, creativity over convention, and people over profits.

A 2014 study published in Science found that when people were left alone in a room with nothing but their thoughts for 15 minutes, many chose to give themselves electric shocks rather than sit quietly. 67% of men. 25% of women. All of whom had previously said they'd pay money to avoid being shocked.

Solitude isn't easy. For people in recovery, it can be especially hard.

Read more on the blog about why so many of us dread being alone with our thoughts, and what that has to do with the work of recovery. ✌️

Carl Jung believed our spiritual need is as real as hunger and the fear of death.

Whether or not you'd call yourself spiritual, most people in recovery find they're asking the bigger questions.

We make space for those questions here. ✌️

Often, substance use develops out of a person's attempt to cope with something overwhelming. A job loss. A failing marriage. Grief. Anxiety that won't stop.

B wrote about 6 coping skills that actually hold up over time, not just in treatment but in every day life. ✌️

We integrate mindfulness meditation with standard relapse prevention.

Not because it's trendy. Because the research supports it, and because learning to sit with discomfort, really sit with it, is one of the most powerful things a person in recovery can do. ✌️

Sleep isn't a wellness tip. It's a clinical factor in recovery.

Up to 74% of people seeking treatment for alcohol use disorder report insomnia symptoms. For substance use disorders broadly, that number climbs to 85%. And sleep disturbances are among the strongest predictors of relapse.

Addiction is often driven or complicated by mental health disorders. Anxiety. Mood disorders. PTSD. Trauma.

They don't exist in isolation, and neither does recovery.

Dual diagnosis treatment means we treat the whole person, both at the same time. That's not a philosophy. That's the evidence. ✌️
