Today is World Eating Disorders Action Day 💙 Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions that affect people of all ages, genders, body sizes, races, and backgrounds. They are not a choice, a phase, or simply about food, they are complex illnesses that can impact physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, and quality of life.

One of the most important factors in recovery is early recognition and intervention. Warning signs such as food restriction, excessive exercise, binge eating, purging behaviors, intense fear of weight gain, body image distress, or significant changes in eating habits should never be ignored.

Recovery is possible, and specialized care matters. The best outcomes often occur when treatment involves a multidisciplinary team that may include a therapist, registered dietitian, physician, psychiatrist, and family support system working together to address the whole person, not just the symptoms.

If you or someone you love is struggling, know that help is available and healing is possible. You do not have to face it alone. Knock on our door and ask questions! We’re here to support!

💚 Early intervention saves lives
💚 Recovery is possible
💚 Every person deserves support, compassion, and hope

Whether you’re just starting or continuing your path to healing, we’re here for you. 💙

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸Our freedom 🇺🇸 Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication will never be forgotten.

We also hold space for the veterans who continue to carry the invisible wounds of service, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Seeking support is a sign of strength, and no one should have to carry that burden alone.

Today, we remember. We honor. We support. ❤️🤍💙

Grounding is the gentle practice of coming back to the present moment, again and again, coming back to where your feet are. 🌊 So often, anxiety pulls us into the “what ifs” of the future, while sadness, guilt, or regret keeps us stuck in the past. But healing happens in the here and now.

Take a breath.
Notice your feet on the floor.
Feel the ground or the chair supporting you.
Remind yourself: In this moment, I am safe. In this moment, I can cope. In this moment I’m here.
Arrive.

Being where your feet are doesn’t mean ignoring hard feelings, it means choosing to anchor yourself in the present instead of getting swept away by fear, overwhelm, or racing thoughts.

The present moment may not be perfect, but it is where your power lives. 💚

Eating disorders can be difficult to understand from the outside. They are not choices, and they are not simply about food, weight, or appearance.

We live in a weight-centered culture that normalizes dieting, body dissatisfaction, and weight stigma. But diet culture is only one layer of a much more complex story.

Eating disorders are multifaceted mental health conditions shaped by genetics, temperament, emotional experiences, environment, and social influences. At their core, they often serve a function: they may create a sense of control, numb overwhelming emotions, provide predictability and distraction from painful feelings, or feel like protection in the face of pain, fear, or uncertainty.

The question is not “What does the eating disorder give you?”
The deeper question is: “What does it feel like it is protecting you from?”

When we move beyond behaviors and judgment, we create space for compassion, understanding, and healing. 💚Whether you’re just starting or continuing your path to healing, we’re here for you. 💙

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚 Mental health affects all of us. It does not discriminate by age, gender, culture, profession, or background. While struggles such as anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, OCD, and stress can often feel isolating, support is available, and healing is possible.

Taking care of your mental health is not a sign of weakness; it is an act of courage and a step toward a bigger life, self-awareness, and self-compassion. Seeking help early can make a meaningful difference, offering the opportunity to build a healthier set of coping skills, stronger connections, and greater emotional balance and resilience.

This month, let’s continue to break the stigma, encourage honest and authentic conversations, and remind one another that asking for support is a strength and not a burden or a weakness.

You deserve care. You deserve healing. You deserve balance. 💚 Whether you’re just starting or continuing your path to healing, we’re here for you. 💙

🌞 ARFID Summer Intensive Program for Kids & Teens - Specialized Eating Disorder Support 🌞

Is your child struggling with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), extreme picky eating, sensory sensitivities, fear of eating, vomiting, pain, or a lack of interest in food?

At Home For Balance, our ARFID Summer Intensive Program is designed specifically for children and teens with ARFID, including those who are neurodivergent and navigating Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and sensory processing challenges.

We understand that ARFID is not simply “picky eating.” For many kids and teens, food can feel overwhelming, scary, unpredictable, or even unsafe. Mealtimes may become stressful, nutrition and development may suffer, and families often feel exhausted trying to help.

Our structured, compassionate, and evidence-based ARFID treatment program helps children and teens:
✨ Increase flexibility with food
✨ Reduce anxiety and fear around eating
✨ Navigate sensory food challenges
✨ Build confidence with eating and mealtimes
✨ Support nutritional progress in a safe, collaborative environment
✨ Empower parents with tools to support recovery at home

If your child struggles with food avoidance, restrictive eating, selective eating, sensory-based eating difficulties, or ARFID, support is available and recovery is possible.

📍 Serving families in South Florida & online support options available. Whether you’re just starting or continuing your path to healing, we’re here for you. 💙

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is often understood through the lens of communication differences, social experiences, and sensory sensitivities, but there’s another important piece that deserves also attention: the relationship with food.

Many individuals with ASD experience unique eating patterns shaped by sensory sensitivities, rigidity, anxiety, and a need for predictability. Research shows that individuals on the spectrum are at a higher risk of developing eating disorders, including ARFID and other challenges around food. ✨Full link in bio✨

At Home for Balance, we believe in holistic care and evidence based treatment for eating disorders. When we approach eating with compassion, flexibility, and a neurodiversity-affirming lens, we create space for growth, healing, and connection. You don’t have to navigate this alone. 💛Whether you or your loved one is just starting or continuing their path to healing, we’re here for you. 💙
