To a child, play is a natural way to communicate, explore emotions, and make sense of their experiences.

In play therapy, it may look like a child is simply playing—but there can be so much more happening underneath. Through their play, children express feelings, explore relationships, practice new ways of responding, and build a stronger sense of safety and confidence.

In play therapy, the play IS the therapy. 🧸🚂🪀

With the beginning of every school year, kids often wonder, "Who am I going to be this year?"

✏️Maybe this is the year they speak up in class.
✏️Maybe they make a new friend.
✏️Maybe they finally feel like they fit in.
✏️Or maybe they decide they're done pretending to be someone they're not.

Growing up is a process of discovering who you are. Sometimes kids just need a space to explore that, build confidence, and find their own voice.

That's one of my favorite parts of being a child and teen therapist. 🩵

Wishing all of our students a wonderful school year!

As summer comes to an end, it's a good reminder that transitions can be hard—especially for teens.

The shift from long, lazy days back to early rising and busy routines can bring mixed emotions. Excitement and anxiety often show up together.

If your teen seems more withdrawn, irritable, or overwhelmed lately, they may be carrying emotions that are difficult to express. Sometimes, having a safe space to talk can make all the difference.

I love supporting teens throughout all the seasons. 🩵

Tantrums, withdrawal, irritability, or clinginess aren't always "bad behavior." Sometimes they're a child's way of saying, "I'm overwhelmed," "I'm anxious," or "I need help."

Behavior is communication. Looking beneath the behavior can help us better understand what a child needs.

If you need help understanding your child's behavior, I can help. I am now accepting clients for the new school year. 🖍️📚📓

Big feelings in kids can sometimes come out loud, messy, and hard to navigate.

Underneath those feelings is usually a need for connection, comfort, and understanding.

When our kids have big feelings, sometimes the best thing we can do is be present. 🩵

Ok, child and teen therapists, who has jumped on this squishy craze? My clients are obsessed with these things (and so am I 🤣). The best part is, other than being really cool, they are great for stress reduction, self-soothing, grounding, focus, and so much more... Who knew something so trendy could also be so therapeutic?

Parenting is no joke- and we often put so much pressure on ourselves to get it right. Remember- the perfect parent doesn't exist. Be kind to yourself, be present with your kids, and enjoy the journey.
