PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome), formerly known as Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS), is a condition that can affect hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive health.
The updated name better reflects the wide range of ways the condition can affect the body, rather than focusing only on the ovaries. Ovarian cysts are not required to have PMOS.
PMOS can affect women in different ways. Symptoms and concerns may include irregular menstrual cycles, hormonal changes, metabolic concerns, and challenges related to fertility. Every womanโs experience is unique.
At North Idaho Dermatology Womenโs Health, BreAnne Huss, CNM, WHNP-BC, provides compassionate, individualized care to help women better understand their symptoms and navigate their reproductive and hormonal health.
The name has changed. The importance of understanding your health hasnโt.
