Tina Riley, 59, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at her home.

Tina was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Robert Lee Riley and Essie Riley, who both preceded her in death.

Tina spent most of her life in Chicago, where she built lifelong friendships and touched the lives of many. Later, she relocated to Coffeyville, Kansas, where she continued to leave a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Throughout her life, Tina worked in a variety of roles, from schools to hospitals, always dedicating herself to helping others. She was known for being outspoken, strong-willed, and unafraid to advocate not only for herself, but also for those who needed a voice. Tina believed in standing up for what was right and was never afraid to speak her mind.

Those who knew Tina knew she possessed a heart of gold. She was generous, compassionate, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether offering advice, encouragement, or support, Tina touched countless lives through her kindness and genuine love for others.

Tina had a passion for fashion, shopping, and looking her best. She loved designer items, enjoyed dressing up, and carried herself with confidence, style, and grace. Her beautiful smile, loving spirit, and unforgettable personality will be cherished forever.

Tina leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: Octavia, James, Jamar, Jasmine, Tevin, and Mariah; her cherished grandchildren; her sisters, Michelle Fullard and Lea Riley; her brothers, Louis Mobley and Isaac Riley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who loved her dearly.

Though she has been promoted to glory, Tina’s love, strength, wisdom, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A funeral service celebrating Tina’s life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, 708 East 12th Street in Coffeyville.

Following the service cremation will take place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

Mary Jo Jackson, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at her home in Coffeyville, with her children by her side.

She was born on August 24, 1937, in Wichita, Kansas to Joseph and Mary C. (Graham) Schulte. Mary Jo lived a full and rich life of 88 years, dedicated to her family, teaching, and the community. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her. A proud Kansas native, Mary Jo grew up in Wichita, where she graduated from Wichita East High School in 1955, before attending Pittsburg State University. It was there she met her late husband, Bob Jackson, whom she married on August 12, 1956. They lived in Fredonia, Kansas for a year before making their home in Coffeyville.

A passionate educator, Mary Jo taught at Holy Name Catholic School in the 1960s, before retiring in 1967. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Holy Name Altar Society and the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority during her college days. Mary Jo was also part of a bridge club in Coffeyville. Throughout her life, she found joy in canning fruits and vegetables, making jelly, doing DIY home remodeling, playing golf, watching Kansas State football and Duke basketball, watching Hallmark Mysteries, going to the casinos, and spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Mary Jo is survived by her children who fondly remember her whistle to get home, Jeff, Mark, Chris (Debbie) and Missy Jackson; her grandchildren, Courtney Jackson and Kyle (Elly) Jackson; her nephew Troy (Delcy) Schulte and great nieces, Mary Jo and Marlene Schulte. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Jackson, her grandson, Scotty Jackson; parents, Joseph and Mary Schulte; brother, Mike Schulte; sister, Nancy Lancelot.

Friends may call on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

A Rosary Vigil Service will be held on Monday, at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church, 408 Willow St., Coffeyville, Kansas, 67337.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Drew Dellasega officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.

Sandra Alene Schulze-Weaver, age 85, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Red Rock, Arizona where she had just relocated to be closer to family.

Sandi was born on July 10, 1940, in Spencer, Iowa to John and Ruby (Gloyd) Waggoner. She grew up in Neodesha, Kansas where she graduated with the class of 1958. Her life, vibrant and filled with love, was a testament to the qualities she held dear - generosity, humility, and compassion.

Sandi was united in marriage to Hartmut Schulze, of that union four children were born, Rodney, Jon, Michelle and Robert. Sandi was a homemaker par excellence, creating a sanctuary of love and comfort for her family. She contributed significantly to her husband's paint/paperhang business, managing clerical work and maintaining meticulous records. Their union later parted ways.

Sandi’s innate artistic talent shone through not just in her home, but in her own creations. Her gifted hands painted beautiful canvases, breathed life into a variety of crafts, and nurtured a stunning garden that was a testament to her patience and nurturing nature. Every stroke of her brush, every leaf in her garden, was a story of her love and dedication.

In 2005, she married Ben Thomas Weaver. They shared many wonderful years together. Ben preceded her in death August 18, 2018.

Her faith was her compass, guiding her through life's journey. She was an active member of the Ladies of the Church, her humble and compassionate spirit finding purpose in serving others. Whether it was teaching art at the Lutheran School, oil painting, crafting beautiful banners for the church, or volunteering her time and energy in acts of service, Sandi's love for God and her community was evident. Her life was a canvas, and each act of service was a color she used to paint a picture of love and faith.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Rodney Alan Schulze and wife, Doris, Jon Richard Schulze and wife, Sue, Michelle Rene’ Hamilton and husband, Don, Robert Hartmut Schulze; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Following Sandra's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

A visitation with the family present to greet friends will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Tyro Christian Church. Evangelist David Bycroft will officiate. Inurnment will follow at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Neodesha Cemetery in Neodesha, Kansas.

Australia Jackson, of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Montgomery Place in Independence.

She was born May 2,1935 to Doshia and Elijah Watts.

Australia was of the Baptist faith and worked as a nurse’s aide for many years. She loved western movies.

She was a very kind and loving person and had a daughter Marsha Watts.

Australia was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Marsha Watta, sister Beulah Shields and brother Elijah Watts.

She is survived by four nieces, Ella Mitchell of Virginia, Claudia Maxwell of Ohio, Claretha Pouncil of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Arlene Britt of Independence, Kansas; nephews, Lester Shields of Georgia, Victor Shields of Iowa, and Michael (Paula) Watts of Maryland; sister-in-law, Angela “Angie” Watts of Denver, Colorado and many cousins and friends.

Velma Dawn Lee Bibee (Miller), 41, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away suddenly on May 22, 2026, in Coffeyville, Kansas. Velma was born on July 9, 1984, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Richard and Cheryl (Garretson) Miller.

Velma was known for her kind heart, adventurous spirit, sweet nature, and wonderful sense of humor. She was full of life and brought joy to those around her through her laughter, compassion, and ability to make others feel loved and welcomed. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and created lasting memories with those fortunate enough to know her.

Velma attended Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville, Kansas, where she completed the 10th grade. Throughout her life, she worked hard and held positions at McDonald’s, Burger King, Bridges Community Care, Subway, Chickasaw Travel Stop, and Windsor Home Care, where she built friendships and touched lives through her caring personality.

On May 1st, 2005, Velma married Randy Bibee. Though the marriage later ended in divorce in 2019, together they shared years of memories and raised a family.

Velma leaves behind her loving children, Josh Bibee of Joplin, Missouri, Ethan Bibee of Coffeyville, Kansas, and Jayden Baird of Coffeyville, Kansas. She is also survived by her parents, Cheryl Miller of Ada, Oklahoma, and Richard Miller of Coffeyville, Kansas; her siblings, Renee Miller of Coffeyville, Kansas, and Vicky Ficht (Jay) of Stonewall, Oklahoma; and her beloved cousin whom she considered a sibling, Lisa Hills (Richard) of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews: Chevelle, Rosemary, August, Melanie, Hunter, Carol, Richard Jr., Emmitt, Jeremiah, Magnolia, Delilah, and Jaxson; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Velma was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Rosemary and William Miller; maternal grandparents, Rosie and Loyal Garretson; her dear friend, Jennifer Smith; her aunt, Connie Merritt; her uncle, Jerry Garretson; her niece, Danica Hills; and her nephew, Kolten Hills.

Velma will be remembered for her kindness, laughter, loving spirit, and adventurous heart. Though her passing was sudden and unexpected, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Walter Johnson Park in Coffeyville, Kansas, on May 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions toward funeral expenses may be made to David W. Naomi Mae Tippin, age 91, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

Naomi was born on February 24, 1935, in Center Point, Arkansas to Carl and Lena Mae (Crisp) Jones. She grew up around Center Point and later Dierks, Arkansas where she attended school.

On July 11, 1961, she was united in marriage to Richard Norman Tippin, the couple lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. From their union a daughter, Sheri, was born.

Naomi filled her days as a homemaker and loved taking care of her family and home. She enjoyed flowers, crocheting, reading and in her later years she liked spending time on the computer. Naomi loved the Lord and studied her bible often

Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughter, Sheri Tippin and companion, Darrell LaRoy; siblings, Verna Dickerson, Raymond Jones and Mamie Jean Young along with numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lena Mae Jones; loving husband, Richard Tippin and four siblings, Olean Klien, Christine Hakes, MacDuff Jones, and Algie Jones.

Following Naomi’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

No public services are scheduled. At a later date, her ashes will be inurned with her husband, Richard at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

Carol Edwana Powell, age 85, of Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Medicalodge of Independence Nursing Home.

Carol was born on June 18, 1940, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to James Edward “Ed” and Nellie Emily “Nell” (Hall) Huckaby. She grew up in Stillwater where she graduated high school. Carol furthered her education at Eastern Oklahoma State College where she earned her Associate Degree and became a Licensed Nurse Practitioner.

On August 21, 1955, she married the love of her life, Doyle C. Powell in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The couple had five children, Cynthia, Ed, Doyle, Tami and Toni. In addition to taking care of the house and kids, Carol had a fulfilling career as an LPN where she spent many years taking care of others and helping those in need. She was a member of the Tyro Christian Church, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary.

In her earlier years she loved traveling, playing slot machines and attending Gene Watson concerts. She even met him several times. She loved her Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed watching sports in general, but football was her favorite. She was an avid rodeo fan who cherished every opportunity to watch the sport, especially when her family was competing.

If you knew Carol, she was a spitfire. She was ornery, and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, but she could also be gentle and offer a listening ear to anyone in need. She was lovingly known as “Facebook Grandma” to keep up with all that was going on with her family and friends.

She was proud of her Native American heritage and enjoyed telling stories of times gone by.

Carol loved her dogs. Annie was her most recent companion and they were attached at the hip for many years.

She enjoyed plants, hummingbirds, music and dancing, but most of all she loved her ever-growing family.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Cynthia Hodges of Havana, Kansas, Ed Powell of Baytown, Texas, Doyle W. Charlene M. Merriman, age 69, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Charlene was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

She was born on July 18, 1956, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Charles and Karlene (Turner) Marshall. Charlene grew up in Coffeyville, where she attended school graduating from Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College.

On November 26, 1976, she married the love of her life, Philip Merriman, and together they built a life centered on love, mutual respect, and family.

Charlene was a dedicated accountant, providing her services with love and commitment at Windsor Place for many years until her retirement. She was a woman of many passions, but most notably, she was an adept quilter and seamstress. Charlene was a member and served as treasurer of the Material Girls Quilt Guild and was a former Girl Scout Leader for many years. The love she had for her job at Windsor Place was only surpassed by the love she had for her family, especially her girls and grandchildren.

Charlene is survived by her husband, Philip Merriman; her daughters, Michelle Luellen (Mike), Victoria Engledow (Matt), and Bridget Frye (John); her grandchildren, Kelsey York (Will), Andy Green (Corinne Pachl), Libby Ledbetter (Jeremy Hughes), Kimberly Engledow (Austin Havens), Logan Ledbetter (Adrian Maulsby), Darby Frye, and Mavis Frye; a great-grandson, Bryson Greene; and her siblings, David Marshall and Brenda Cummings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Karlene Marshall.

Kimberley Lu Westervelt, 69, of Coffeyville, passed away peacefully at her home on May 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Kim was born on September 17, 1956, to Jess and Vivian Osborne. She graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1974. During her school years, she was active in Rainbow Girls and was a proud member of the Drum and Bugle Corps, experiences and friendships she cherished throughout her life.

Kim dedicated many years of service to her community and career. She worked at Public Finance in Coffeyville before beginning a long and respected 36-year career with CVR Energy, where she built lasting friendships and earned the admiration of many coworkers.

On August 25, 1981, Kim married the love of her life, William T. “Bill” Westervelt. Together they built a strong and loving family centered around faith, hard work, laughter, and devotion to one another.

Kim is survived by her husband, Bill Westervelt; her four sons: Brandon and Rae Jean of Dearing, Kansas; Eric and Alisha of Spring Hill, Kansas; Chad and Stacea of Pittsburg, Kansas; and Dustin and Heather of Columbus, Kansas. She is also survived by her brothers, Tim and Linda Osborne of New York, and Shawn Osborne of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Teresa Osborne of Coffeyville, Kansas; 13 beloved grandchildren; and 2 treasured great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Vivian Osborne, and her brother, Kevin Osborne.

Kim will be remembered for her strength, loyalty, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Following Kim's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Betty Louise Smith, age 80, of Tyro, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at home.

Betty was born on October 21, 1945, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Edgar and Nora (King) Fowler. She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended local schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School.

Betty was united in marriage to Gary A. Riedel, William E. Bailey, Jr. and Alvin Smith; all whom preceded her in death.

Betty worked as a manager for Caney Valley Apartments for many years. If you knew Betty, you knew she loved the Lord. She loved attending church at the Southview Church of God where she worshiped for many years. She enjoyed working out in the yard and playing board games with family. Most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family. Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters, Christy Gray and husband, Raymond, Sonya Twitchell and husband, Louis; grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, David, Kylea and husband, Chase; great grandchildren, Malaki, Brantley, Bradyn and Grayson; brother, Bruce Fowler and wife, Lurena along with numerous extended family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Nora Fowler; husbands, Gary Riedel, William Bailey, Jr. and Alvin Smith; infant son, Stephen Riedel; brother, Edgar Fowler and sister, Donna Cozort.
