The history of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel began with the Coffeyville Furniture Company which dates back to 1888. Skinner-Hamlin Funeral Home built their new facility at 2405 Woodland Ave. in 1967. The chapel was later owned by Clare Ford who renamed the location Ford Funeral Service Edgewood Chapel. When Mr. Ford sold the chapel to Mr. Wulf and Mr. Bruns in 1981 the name was changed to Ford-Wulf-Bruns

Funeral Service. In 2004 the funeral home was purchased by Penwell-Gabel, formerly known as Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel until August of 2012. Under new ownership in September of 2012 the funeral home retained the name of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Wanting to honor the highly respected and quality men that formerly served this community and to let our town know we will provide the same superior service they have always relied on. Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel is a proud sponsor of the Coffeyville Chamber of Commerce, Coffeyville Area Community Foundation, Coffeyville Fair and Rodeo, Coffeyville Community College Booster Club, Coffeyville Community College Scholarship Fundraiser, FKHS Graduation and Prom, Dalton Defender Days, Coffeyville Magic Youth Sports, Coffeyville Recreation Youth Sports, American Legion Post 20, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Lions Club, Kiwanis, Midwest Pregnancy Care Center, and the Edna Youth Fishing Tournament. In October of 2013 the funeral home held their first Emergency Responder Appreciation Lunch to thank all those who serve our community and surrounding areas. Also, the Coffeyville Ministerial Alliance provided the funeral home with a list of families in need at Christmas that they were able to provide with gift certificates to a local grocer to help with their Christmas meal.

Have you ever wondered where the term pallbearer comes from?

The word "pall" originally referred to the decorative cloth that was draped over a casket during funeral processions. Centuries ago, the individuals chosen to accompany the casket often carried or supported the pall itself, rather than the casket.

Over time, the role evolved, and today a pallbearer is someone selected to help carry or es**rt the casket as a final act of honor, respect, and love for a family member or friend.

August is Make-A-Will Month, a reminder that planning ahead is one of the greatest gifts you can give your loved ones. While a will helps ensure your legal wishes are carried out, funeral preplanning allows you to make important personal decisions in advance, easing the burden on those you love during an already difficult time. Together, they create a thoughtful plan for the future and peace of mind for your family.
