Please join Eddy Village Green in celebrating Diana Lloyd, RN, BSN, nurse senior educator, who has been named a "2026 Nurse of the Year" by the annual Times Union Salute to Nurses.

Diana exemplifies what it means to be a true nurse leader with nearly four decades of experience. She joined The Eddy in 1987 as RN supervisor at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany, then the former Villa Mary Immaculate. She later advanced to several positions, helping to advance nursing and senior care within the network. In 1992, Diana was named director of the Eddy DayBreak Adult Day Program at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy, also serving as chair of the New York State Adult Day Healthcare Association for three years. Later, she served as director of nursing for Eddy SeniorCare, a nationally recognized PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) center. Finally, she became the longtime director of nursing at the former Eddy-Ford Nursing Home in Cohoes, home of Eddy Village Green, where under her leadership, The Eddy implemented the Green House model of care. Diana says she's most proud of her role in helping guide staff through the successful transition for seniors in the Capital Region -- the first such model in New York State. Diana semi-retired in 2020 but still keeps a hand in caring for the elderly as a part-time RN educator. Congratulations, Diana! Thank you for all your years of commitment, dedication, and mentorship to new generations of nurses!

You've heard the old saying, "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life!" Just ask Melissa Zennaiter who is celebrating 42 remarkable years of service for The Eddy! Melissa began as a CNA at the former Mary and Alice Ford Nursing Home/Eddy-Ford Nursing Home in Cohoes, which later became Eddy Village Green (The Eddy's Greenhouse nursing home model), and Melissa became a Shahbaz. "This work has never just been a job to me. It's truly been a calling. The Elders I care for have become like family over the years. I've had the honor of holding their hands through difficult days, celebrating their joys, listening to their stories, and learning from the beautiful lives they've lived," says Melissa. "There is something so meaningful about being trusted to care for someone in such a personal and sacred way. I've built deep bonds not only with the Elders but with their families, too, sharing tears, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Loving what I do has made every year meaningful, and after 42 years, my heart is still just as committed to giving them the dignity, compassion, and respect they deserve." Congratulations on 42 and counting, Melissa! We are so proud of you and so fortunate to have you! Thank you for all you do for our cherished Elders every day of the year!

Eddy Village Green is full of skilled and compassionate staff, like Jeannette Vargas-Valencia, a nurse, who has also been named one of our SPIRIT Award winners this quarter. Jeanette was nominated by a family member of one of our Elders, who writes, "I could go on and on about Jeanette and her dedication to my mom and dad's well-being. The level of focus she has placed on my dad for his diabetes management is unparalleled. With my mom, she has been instrumental in caring for her wounds that have persisted for over 6 months. She is a WONDERFUL companion to them both, delivering humor when needed but also being clear about what needs serious attention/management. She is always willing to answer our questions when my sister and I are on-site for visits. She doesn't consider her job over when her shift ends. She embodies the true spirit of what EVG was created to offer through the original Greenhouse model." Congratulations, Jeanette!

Eddy Village Green is so proud to introduce another one of our SPIRIT Award winners this quarter -- Shahbaz Nakiah Gamble! Nakiah was nominated by one of our Elders who misses her loving care at night when she is not there. "Nakiah was like a clock. I could set my watch according to her coming... I had never to worry if she was on duty. I was happy. She is just wonderful!" Congratulations, Nakiah!

Please join Eddy Village Green in celebrating Marcia Wright, Shahbaz, another one of our SPIRIT Award winners! Marcia was nominated by a family member of one of our Elders. "I often interact with Marcia when I visit," the family member writes. "I have always found her to be helpful, professional, and friendly. She brings in something else. She is very cheerful when I see her. She has a warm demeanor. Marcia is a credit to Eddy Village Green!" Congratulations, Marcia!

Join Eddy Village Green as we celebrate Kellie Duchowny, a Shahbaz, who has been named one of our SPIRIT Award winners! Kellie was nominated by a family member of one of our elders who called her "truly amazing" with her aunt. "Not only does she give her the basic care that she needs in a timely and gentle manner, she goes above and beyond by engaging in general conversation with her and showing interest in the things that matter (to her)," says the family member. "Kellie has taken the time to listen and to learn what interests (my aunt) and then engages in conversations about those very topics. She always goes the extra mile to make sure she has the food she likes, that her pillows are comfortable, and that her clothes are cared for in a very special way." Congratulations, Kellie!
