October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We’re grateful to Dani Thomas, our Surgical Nurse Manager, for sharing her story, from diagnosis to finding confidence again through the mastectomy boutique at Palace Drug Store.
"I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2022, shortly after my 48th birthday. From the beginning, my priorities were clear: to pursue necessary care without delay and to receive as much of that care as possible close to home. Citizens Health provided exceptional care throughout my journey.
Following my bilateral mastectomy, I initially decided against reconstructive surgery, as the process would have been extensive, and I felt comfortable with my decision. However, three years later, I noticed I appeared disproportionate and began losing confidence in my profile.
