Day 4 of getting to know Lindsay!

Why Wandersnip?

Aside from getting to join my friends, I really saw the vision Dr. Bach had for Wandersnip — and I wanted to be part of helping make the biggest impact possible.

I hear it all the time from the people who call us: “You’re the answer we’ve been looking for.” Sometimes, Wandersnip is the difference between a pet getting the care they need and not getting care at all.

That means a lot to me.

I truly believe in the mission, I believe in making veterinary care more accessible, and most importantly, I believe in the people who show up every week and make it happen. ❤️

So, why Wandersnip? Because I believe in what we’re doing — and I’m really proud to be a small part of it.

Day 3 of getting to know Lindsay!

What’s your favorite dessert?

Ice cream. By far. No contest. No hesitation. No need for a committee meeting. 😂

I am obsessed with ice cream. I will happily eat it year-round, in any weather, and honestly, I don’t believe there is such a thing as too cold outside for ice cream.

Cake? Meh. Cookies? Sure. Pie? Not usually.

But ice cream? Now we’re talking.

And if you’re wondering what my favorite flavor is… that’s a whole other post because apparently I have commitment issues when it comes to choosing just one. 😂

Day 2 of getting to know Lindsay!

What’s your favorite part of being behind the scenes at Wandersnip?

Honestly, I love the puzzle of it all! I love filling the books, scheduling our surgery days, and figuring out the logistics of where we’ve been, where we’re needed, and where we’re seeing requests for care. I especially love building relationships with the people, businesses, rescues, and communities we work with.

There’s something really rewarding about seeing an idea or a request turn into an actual surgery day where we can help more pets and their people. 💙

And yes… I also genuinely enjoy a good spreadsheet. 😂

Day 1 of getting to know the last of the Wandersnip team, Lindsay—and yes, I’m the one posting these!

I’m the Office Admin, Chaos Coordinator, and the one answering your phone calls!

I met Dr. Bach and Ashley through the shelter as well, and basically… the rest is history! What started as working together turned into friendship, and eventually into this crazy little adventure we call Wandersnip.

I’m usually behind the scenes keeping things organized, answering questions, scheduling appointments, and trying to keep the chaos at least somewhat contained…or just signing us up for more chaos - I have to keep it interesting!

Day 5 of getting to know Ashley!

Who was your first dog?

My first “all-my-own” dog was Biggie. He certainly wasn’t the brightest, or the prettiest, but he was all mine and he loved with all his heart.

I met Biggie back in 2011 while working at an animal shelter. He, along with several other dogs and puppies, had come in as part of a local cruelty/hoarding case. Biggie and his brother, Gremlin, had both sustained chemical burns, with Biggie having the worst of it. He had burns covering most of his face, as well as peppered across his shoulders, back and paws.

He was also a nervous guy, and because of that, he struggled to find his people at the shelter. He sat there for seven months, watching everyone else get passed over while I grew closer and closer to him. I’d spend my lunch breaks sitting in his kennel, take him out for hikes in the woods, and basically find any excuse I could to spend time with him.

I still lived with my parents at the time, so as much as I desperately wanted to bring him home, it just wasn’t possible.

Then came Christmas Day 2011. Biggie was scheduled to meet some potential adopters and their two dogs. I was so happy for him, but also completely devastated at the thought of not getting to see him every day anymore.

As I brought Biggie in to meet his new family, I walked in to find my own parents, my sister and our family dogs waiting there.

My wonderful parents had arranged with my boss at the shelter to adopt Biggie for me as my Christmas present.

To this day, it was the best present I’ve ever gotten.

Sadly, I lost Biggie to cancer in 2021. But I’ll always be grateful that I got those years with him

Day 4 of getting to know Ashley!

What’s your favorite part of a day on the truck?

Probably recovery, getting them comfy & bundled up post surgery, saying hi to surrounding creatures, playing patty cake with any inquisitive kitties, and taking a minute to sip some coffee

Day 3 of getting to know Ashley!

What’s your favorite dessert?

Ice cream! But, a close runner up is apple crisp - even better with ice cream though!

Day 2 of getting to know Ashley!

What’s the most rewarding patient you’ve helped?

Not a specific individual patient, but more a grouping. TNR’s (trap neuter release): because not only are you helping that individual animal but the effects cascade down to so many more - the surrounding community cats, preventing litters and kitten suffering, reducing fighting and injuries amongst the colony, and therefore reducing disease spread as well and making a small dent in the cat overpopulation crisis

OR

Sick kittens. Ashley is incredibly talented with neonatal and orphaned kittens - there are probably too many of those success stories to share in just one post!

(Picture of Hot Fluffy - a cat that was supposed to be a TNR, but she decided she wanted to be a house cat)
