Masters Level Counseling Intern
At Heartwood Counseling and Wellness, we are a growing private practice committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to teens and adults. Our clinicians specialize in areas including autism spectrum, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, women's concerns, men's issues, and couples work. We are seeking a masters-level counseling intern to join our team beginning in the fall semester. This is an excellent opportunity for a counseling student who wants hands-on experience in private practice and is interested in growing with a supportive team.
Position Overview
The counseling intern will begin on a part-time basis and will have the opportunity to build a caseload throughout three semesters of practicum and internship. The ideal candidate is interested in developing strong clinical skills in a private practice setting and is open to the possibility of continuing with the practice after graduation.
Responsibilities
* Provide individual counseling services to teen and adult clients
* Maintain clinical documentation in a timely and professional manner
* Participate in supervision and case consultation
* Build and maintain an active caseload
* Contribute positively to a supportive, collaborative clinical environment
* Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills
* Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members
* Follow ethical and legal standards for counseling practice
Requirements
* Currently enrolled in a masters-level counseling program
* Eligible to enroll in a practicum course in the fall semester
* Able to be supervised by a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
* Available for in-person appointments in Colleyville, Texas
* Willing to commit to three semesters of practicum and internship in a private practice setting
* Interest in working with teen and adult clients
* Interest in clinical areas including autism spectrum, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship concerns
* Ability to maintain an initial caseload of approximately 5–10 clients, with the opportunity to build to 10–20 clients throughout practicum and internship
* Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
* Professional, warm, and team-oriented attitude
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
Preferred Qualifications
* Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
* Interest in continuing in private practice after graduation
* Prior experience working with teens, neurodivergent clients, trauma, or relationship issues
* Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation systems
* Flexible schedule with availability during some of the practice’s primary clinic days:
* Tuesday
* Wednesday
* Friday
* Saturday mornings
