🥩 Building Healthy Routines with KetoFLEX12/3

We’re continuing our focus on building routines that make it easier to follow KetoFLEX12/3, the nutrition strategy of the Bredesen Protocol for Alzheimer’s prevention.

Today we’re talking about protein! Many people aren’t getting enough, so I’m sharing a few simple ways to prepare ahead and make it easier to include enough protein in your meals throughout the week.

This week, we’re talking about how simple daily routines can help us put the Bredesen Protocol into practice for Alzheimer’s prevention.

Today, I’m sharing how overnight fasting, part of KetoFlex 12/3, can become a simple part of your daily routine.

When it comes to Alzheimer’s prevention, it’s not just about focusing on one strategy. It’s about building daily routines that help us put the seven strategies of the Bredesen Protocol into practice.

I talk more about this in my private Facebook group, The Prevention Path – Hope for Alzheimer’s. 💕

🧠 Can Your Daily Habits Make a Difference in Your Brain Health?

When we think about Alzheimer's disease, we often think about genetics, family history, and aging. But did you know that our everyday lifestyle choices can also play an important role in brain health?

Research suggests that factors such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, and other aspects of our health may influence our risk of cognitive decline.

This is one reason I'm so passionate about the Bredesen Protocol, a comprehensive, personalized approach that looks at multiple factors that may contribute to cognitive decline.

But here's something important I've learned through coaching: Knowing what to do and actually making those changes part of your everyday life are two very different things!

That's where building healthy routines comes in.

You don't have to change everything overnight. Start with one area of your health, choose a small action you can repeat consistently, and build from there.

Lasting changes begin when healthy choices become part of your everyday routine.

If you'd like to learn more about Alzheimer's prevention, the Bredesen Protocol, and practical ways to support your brain health, I'd love to invite you to join my private Facebook community, The Prevention Path – Hope for Alzheimer's.

You'll find education, encouragement, and a community of people working toward better brain health, whether they're focused on prevention, facing cognitive changes, or supporting a loved one.

This is a conversation we need to be having about Alzheimer’s.

I’m sharing this from Dr. David Perlmutter because it gets to the heart of why I chose to do the work I do.

As a Certified Bredesen Protocol 2.0 Health Coach, I work from a very different perspective: Alzheimer’s is complex. There can be many different contributors to cognitive decline, and those contributors can look very different from one person to another.

That’s why I believe we need to look beyond a single target and start asking a much bigger question: What is happening in this individual that may be contributing to cognitive decline?

This is true whether someone is working toward prevention or is already experiencing cognitive decline.

There is another conversation happening around Alzheimer’s. And people need to know about it.

Clearing beta-amyloid isn’t an Alzheimer’s cure.

A recent story celebrated an Alzheimer’s patient whose brain scans showed that amyloid plaques had been cleared after treatment. That is certainly a biological result worth discussing. The larger question is whether removing amyloid meaningfully changes the course of the disease.

For decades, enormous resources have been directed toward amyloid as a primary target in Alzheimer’s disease. I believe the continued focus on what accumulates in the brain risks distracting us from a far more important question. What created the conditions that allowed the disease to develop in the first place?

That question is at the heart of my New York Times Bestselling book, Brain Defenders. If we want to change the future of Alzheimer’s, I believe we have to look much earlier in the disease process and understand what is driving it.

Making changes to the way we eat can feel overwhelming, especially when we think we have to change everything at once.

But when it comes to protecting our brain health, perfection isn't the goal.

One better choice, followed by another, can begin to change the way we eat over time.

Small changes, consistently practiced, can add up to meaningful progress.

This memory popped up today, and I can’t believe it’s already been a year!

I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Eddie Rodriguez on his YouTube channel about my work as a Certified Bredesen Protocol 2.0 Health Coach. We talked about Alzheimer’s prevention, cognitive decline, and how I help clients uncover and address the many factors that can contribute to changes in brain health.

If you’re new to my page or missed the interview the first time around, I wanted to share it again. 💕

🥑 **KetoFLEX 12/3 — Where Do We Start?**

When people hear **KetoFLEX 12/3**, they often jump right to ketosis.

But that's not where we start.

Before we begin lowering carbohydrates and working toward producing ketones, we first want to **clean up the diet and stabilize blood sugar.**

We begin by removing the inflammatory “no” foods:

🚫 Sugar
🚫 Simple and refined carbohydrates
🚫 Grains
🚫 Gluten
🚫 Conventional dairy

At the same time, we begin eating a nutrient-dense diet that nourishes the brain and body, including lots of colorful vegetables for important phytonutrients, healthy fats, and clean, quality protein.

The goal at this point isn't ketosis.

**We're preparing the body, reducing inflammatory foods, improving the quality of what we're eating, and working toward more stable blood sugar.**

Then we can begin moving into **Phase 1 of KetoFLEX 12/3** and start working toward producing ketones.

🧠 **Want to learn more?**

In my private Facebook group, **The Prevention Path – Hope for Alzheimer’s**, I focus each week on one of the **seven strategies of the Bredesen Protocol for preventing and reversing cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s.**

If you'd like to join us and learn how you can begin putting these strategies into practice, **you'll find the link to the group in the comments below.**

Send this to someone you’re on your health journey with.

Every meal, every workout, every night’s sleep—it’s all building the future you. What you do now, in your 20s, 30s, and even 50s, shapes the health you’ll experience in the decades to come.

To understand why the choices you make today impact your future health, consider this: chronic disease and mobility loss are rooted in long-term, silent processes. Inflammation, poor diet, stress, and lack of exercise can slowly damage your cells, arteries, and brain, starting decades before symptoms appear.

These conditions are not random—they develop over time based on lifestyle factors. Every healthy choice you make now can slow or even prevent these processes. It’s all connected.

It’s never too late—or too soon—to start living well.

There is hope for Alzheimer’s.

I’ve been helping people implement the Bredesen Protocol for years, which addresses many of the same lifestyle factors Dr. Perlmutter is talking about in this reel.

The science is encouraging, but knowing what to do and actually doing it are two very different things. That’s where I come in.

As a Certified Bredesen Protocol 2.0 Health Coach, I help people understand the protocol and implement it one step at a time so they can make meaningful, lasting lifestyle changes.

If you’d like to learn more, the links to my website and my Facebook group are in the comments below.

In my Facebook group, I focus on the practical side of the Bredesen Protocol. My goal is to help you stop feeling overwhelmed by all the information and start taking the next step toward better brain health.
