For decades, Dr. Ross Camidge has dedicated his career to advancing lung cancer treatment, helping lead research, clinical trials and care for thousands of patients. In 2022, he unexpectedly found himself on the other side of that experience after being diagnosed with the same rare form of lung cancer he has spent years treating.
Over the past several years, Dr. Camidge has continued mentoring physicians, contributing to cancer research and learning from his own experience as a patient. Along the way, he says his diagnosis has given him an even deeper understanding of what his patients face and strengthened his commitment to improving cancer care for those who come after him.
Today, he's focusing on what matters most, time with his teenage daughters, supporting the next generation of oncologists and continuing to ask the questions that may help shape the future of lung cancer care.
After diagnosing and treating lung cancer for decades, he now faces advanced non-smoking lung cancer, deepening his empathy for patients.
