Please welcome Karen Hunt, LPCC to the team!
Karen believes that therapy should be a warm, human-first space where individuals and partners can completely let their guard down without the pressure of stiff, clinical walls. Understanding that life can bring heavy and messy challenges, her practice focuses on building resilience, breaking old patterns, and healing through tailored therapeutic approaches. Karen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado and went on to complete her Master of Arts in Counseling at Regis University, graduating as a member of the Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society. In her sessions-whether online or in-person-clients can expect real talk, genuine connection, and practical, skill-based interventions designed to foster true post-traumatic growth and self-worth. Some modalities that Karen utilizes are: • EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) • Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) • Mindfulness • Play Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy
Prior to joining Ellie, Karen provided psychotherapy in private practice settings and community human services, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to advocate for crime victims and families. She is deeply passionate about helping clients release the grip of past trauma, break old patterns, and rebuild authentic emotional connections in their lives and relationships.
Outside of the therapy room, Karen finds joy exploring the fresh Colorado air by hiking and off-roading, cheering on the Broncos through football season, spending time with her family and beloved pets, and she can almost always be found with a giant iced tea and good food close by.
