Let’s reclaim ritual. Feel free to murmur this to yourself at night, slowly and with intention. Stay curious about what comes up as you read, or speak each line:
The day is finished.
I release my claim upon it.
What was done is done.
What was left undone may wait.
I call my attention home.
From business.
From family.
From responsibility.
From uncertainty.
From the future.
From the past.
I gather the pieces of myself that remain scattered across the world.
Come home now.
Come home.
The gates are closed.
The watch is ended.
The fires are banked.
Nothing more is required of me tonight.
The burdens that belong to tomorrow may remain in tomorrow.
The burdens that belong to others may remain with others.
The burdens that belong to the world may remain with the world.
I release what is not mine to carry.
I release what is not mine to solve.
I release what is not mine to protect.
Tonight, I choose enough.
Enough work.
Enough effort.
Enough vigilance.
Enough proving.
Enough carrying.
I have given what I had to give.
I have done what I could do.
And now I return to myself.
May my body remember that it is safe.
May my bones remember that they are supported.
May my heart remember that it is loved.
May my mind remember that it may rest.
May my spirit remember that it belongs here.
This home is safe enough.
This night is safe enough.
This life is safe enough.
The doors are closed.
The circle is complete.
The burden may come down now.
So it is.
