***********Tips to Stay Hydrated This Summer***********
It’s getting hotter as we get closer to
summer. If you don’t drink enough
water, the heat can be tough on your
body. Staying hydrated helps your
body and mind work better!
Here are some quick ways to add more
water to your day:
1. Start your day with a glass of water. Leave a glass of water near your
bed. Drink it right when you wake up.
2. Start a journal. Make a goal of drinking water every day. Write down
how much water you drink every day to keep track of your goal.
3. Set an alarm. Set an alarm on your phone to remind yourself to drink
water!
3. Limit sugar sweetened beverages and soda. They are not healthy and
add lots of calories.
4. Flavor your water. Tired of plain water? Add strawberries, cucumber and
mint to flavor your water.
5. Carry a water bottle everywhere. This will help you have water at all
times.
6. Hydrate with food. Fruits and vegetables have lots of water. They can
help with adding water to your daily goal.
- Try fresh fruits, fruit kebabs, green smoothies and green juices.
- Freeze leftovers to make fruit popsicles. They’re a great treat in the
middle of a hot summer day. See Fruit Popsicles recipe below

We all love spending the long, sunny days of summer outdoors with our furry companions, but being
overeager in hot weather can spell danger. To prevent your pet from overheating, take these simple
precautions provided by ASPCA experts:

*Visit the vet for a spring or early-summer checkup. Make sure your pets get tested for heartworm
if they aren’t on year-round preventative medication.
*Pets can get dehydrated quickly, so give them plenty of fresh, clean water when it’s hot or humid
outdoors. Make sure your pets have a shady place to get out of the sun, be careful not to overexercise them, and keep them indoors when it’s extremely hot.
*Know the symptoms of overheating in pets, which include excessive panting or difficulty
breathing, increased heart and respiratory rate, drooling, mild weakness, stupor or even collapse.
Symptoms can also include seizures, bloody diarrhea and vomit along with an elevated body
temperature of over 104 degrees.
*Animals with flat faces, like Pugs and Persian cats, are more susceptible to heat stroke since they
cannot pant as effectively. These pets, along with the elderly, the overweight, and those with heart or
lung diseases, should be kept cool in air-conditioned rooms as much as possible.
*Never leave your animals alone in a parked vehicle. Not only can it lead to fatal heat stroke, it is
illegal in several states!
*Do not leave pets unsupervised around a pool—not all dogs are good swimmers. Introduce your
pets to water gradually and make sure they wear flotation devices when on boats. Rinse your dog off
after swimming to remove chlorine or salt from his fur, and try to keep your dog from drinking pool
water, which contains chlorine and other chemicals.
*Open unscreened windows pose a real danger to pets, who often fall out of them. Keep all
unscreened windows or doors in your home closed, and make sure adjustable screens are tightly
secured.

Dealing with dementia is incredibly tough, but there is a profound beauty in the way the heart often remembers what the mind forgets.
One of the sweetest things about these memories is the "emotional echo." Even when a loved one can’t recall your name or your last visit, the feeling of safety and love you provide stays with them. You might notice their face light up or their shoulders relax when you walk into the room—that’s their soul recognizing yours, even if their memory can't bridge the gap.
It turns the relationship into one of pure, present-moment connection. You aren't bonding over "remember when"; you’re bonding over a shared laugh, the warmth of holding hands, or the peace of listening to a favorite song together right now. In those moments, the disease disappears, and all that's left is the core of who you both are to each other.
Would you like to hear some gentle ways to spark those moments of connection through music or photos?

Colore**al cancer is on the rise among younger adults. How can you reduce your risk?

How does colore**al cancer develop?
Colore**al cancer develops in the digestive system. Polyps are growths that can occur in different parts of the body, including the colon and the stomach. Some polyps have the potential to grow into certain types of cancer.

‘’Colon and re**al cancers will start as a polyp,’’ Hoyer said. ‘’Screenings help identify these polyps and remove them with colonoscopy, which prevents the development of cancer.’’

The polyp is not cancer, but it could be a precancerous growth in the colon.

‘‘When these polyps are identified early, the survival rate for early-stage colon cancer is extremely high, it exceeds 90-to-95%,’’ Hoyer said.

What are the signs and symptoms of colore**al cancer?
The chief signs of colore**al cancer relate to topics that some people find embarrassing to discuss: abdominal issues, gastrointestinal issues and issues related to emptying your bowels.

It’s vital to talk about any concerns you might have related to blood in your stools or other concerning symptoms because it literally can be a matter of life and death when it comes to preventing colore**al cancer cases and deaths.

People of all ages — including those in their 20s, 30s and 40s — should pay close attention to the following symptoms or changes in bowel habits, including:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurological and developmental condition that affects how people interact, communicate, learn, and behave. It is a "spectrum," meaning individuals have unique strengths and challenges, ranging from needing significant support to being highly independent. Symptoms often appear early in childhood and include social-emotional difficulties, communication differences, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviors.
