πŸ’πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€βš•οΈπŸ§ A small rebrand. A new logo. A renewed vision. A renewed direction.

After a few extra years of education, certifications, military service, injuries, setbacks, & life transitions, I'm excited to officially begin the soft launch of Improving Selfhood.

While I continue preparing for my National Board Certification & refining the foundation of my business, I'm opening a limited number of coaching spots for my Foundations Phase.

This soft launch is an opportunity for me to continue growing as a coach, gather feedback, & ensure I'm creating the best possible experience for future clients.

My mission remains simple:
Connect. Educate. Inspire.

If you're looking to build healthier habits, improve your overall well-being, increase accountability, or create meaningful change, I'd love to connect.

πŸ“² Complimentary Connection Calls are now available.
πŸ’Έ Founding Client pricing is available for a limited number of early clients.

Three years ago, I thought I'd already be here. But life had other plans...

Today, I'm grateful to finally say: Let's do this! πŸ‘

Loving yourself can feel extremely selfish…

It has been embedded into our minds, family dynamics, and society for ages that being self-serving is a bad quality. Think about it, do you want to be friends with someone who is β€œselfish?”
Of course not! Well at least not according to the negative connotation that we give to the word itself.

This mentality has begun to shift now that we encourage self-love and self-care more often.

The word selfish means to β€œlack consideration for others, to concern oneself with personal profit or pleasure”.

While this can feel uncomfortable, it is not inherently wrong or bad.

Loving yourself, serving yourself, and caring for yourself are extremely important for becoming your healthiest version.

Let self-love lead in your life πŸ’žπŸ§‘

Let self-love guide your decisions. Let self-love preface your words. Do as many things as possible from the position of loving yourself and considering your best interest.

That is how you experience more joy. That is how you improve your relationships. That is how you experience more self-fulfillment. That is how you come home to yourself.

If you are having a hard time loving yourself this week, I am sending you a lot of mine.

What you need to know about self-love:

πŸ’ž loving yourself is not selfish or arrogant. Only excessive/unrealistic confidence and grandiose views of ourself begin to cross into the unhealthy end of the spectrum.
🧑 self-love requires minimal comparison to others. Notice how I did not say to β€œeliminate” comparison. I am not one who believes in entirely closing ourself off from the opinions of others nor the progress or success of others. If we did that how else would we experience feelings of inspiration and motivation?
πŸ’ž a lot of people mock the β€œself-love” topic as if it were a clichΓ© or some trending buzzword. It is not any of those things. It is here to stay. It is imperative to living a healthy, fulfilling life.
🧑 our capacity to love ourselves, forgive ourself, and to extend grace to ourselves directly correlates with our capacity to love others.
πŸ’ž you cannot truly love yourself if you loathe your body! Learn to appreciate your body and all that it is capable of, even if it is one small trait or characteristic at a time!
🧑 it can feel uncomfortable and/or awkward to look inward and love yourself. Especially if you have a negative inner critic (like most of us do). Especially if you endured childhood abuse and trauma. Especially if you have had a critical parent or significant other. The list of reasons goes on and on. Let’s all work hard to not let this stop our efforts.
πŸ’ž self-care picks up where self-love leaves off.
🧑 self-love requires disconnecting from harmful and abusive relationships, friendships, jobs, etc.
πŸ’ž lastly, self-love requires ongoing effort.

When is it sustainable to build or change habits? πŸ’

Part of the answer lies in between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.

Are you dieting so you can fit into a dress from 3 years ago?

Are you saving money so you can buy other people gifts?

Are you putting on makeup more often to impress your crush at the bar on Friday nights?

If you answered yes to any of these or can think of other examples like them, you are rooted heavily in extrinsic motivation. This means you set goals, form habits, and make changes for an external reward.

Are you investing in a charity because you believe in the cause?

Are you eating certain foods because they make you feel good, energized, or healthy?

These are examples of intrinsically motivated actions and habits. They are more likely to stick because you are performing them for deeply personal reasons.

The truth is, you can find yourself intrinsically and extrinsically motivated at times, too. Losing weight so you can feel better and so you can come off of certain medication is an example of both types of motivation packed into one goal.

Reflect on your own goals and habits to see what motivates you!
