Don't let mosquitos ruin your summer! To protect yourself and your family:
1. Dump standing water in flowerpots, toys, and birdbaths to prevent breeding.
2. Use EPA-registered insect repellent.
Small changes like these can protect you and your family from diseases like West Nile virus, which is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. West Nile is most common in Colorado in August and September. While most people who get West Nile will not have symptoms, one in five infected people will have flu-like symptoms. There can also be more serious side effects. Learn more about West Nile and how to protect yourself at elpasocountyhealth.org/west-nile-virus.
