Both Penrose and St. Francis' awards include the prominent Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus distinction for our rapid thrombolytic therapy for stroke patients, and the Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll for our comprehensive care for diabetic stroke patients. Additionally, Penrose received the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Advanced Therapy award for our swift intervention in removing stroke-causing clots.

The sun was shining brightly over our annual Cancer Survivorship Day at Bear Creek Regional Park East as survivors of all ages, their incredible caregivers, loving family members, dedicated providers, and supportive community organizations came together to celebrate life, resilience, and community.

When Jaden was born, he weighed little more than a pound. His chance of survival was pegged at 0%, and the doctors warned he might never walk or talk. The NICU at St. Francis Hospital became his home for nearly half a year, where he received round-the-clock care. Every day was a small victory, and every month was celebrated.

This week, Jaden is celebrating his 16th birthday by returning to meet and thank the caregivers who saved his life. From a one-pound preemie to an Eagle Scout, Jaden’s journey is a testament to how hope can turn impossible odds into incredible possibilities.

Tuesday morning, staff at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Francis Hospital celebrated the 16th birthday of one of their former patients.
