The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Red Rock is transforming into a Halloween haven for our 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat!

Join us for a FREE afternoon of Halloween fun as our clinic staff and community partners decorate tables throughout the clinic to create an indoor trunk-or-treat experience for the whole family.

This newly revamped group offers a welcoming space to connect with other women who understand the military-connected experience, share experiences, and navigate life’s challenges together.

Through conversation, resources, and community, participants will explore topics including:

No one knows Murphy’s Law better than a military family… so remember that not all moments go smoothly, and that’s okay! 💙

Even when things don’t go according to plan, remind your child (and yourself!) that this was an experiment. Take note of what you learned and try something new next time.

For example, if your child was disappointed that they didn’t have anyone to sit with at lunch, brainstorm what they could try tomorrow—like inviting another classmate who is sitting alone to join them.

Together, participants will explore how thoughts, emotions, behaviors, trauma, and sleep can affect everyday life — while learning practical strategies designed to strengthen:

🦸 The Super Hero Within: Friendship Group for Military Kids!

Being a military kid comes with some pretty unique experiences — and sometimes it helps to have friends who just get it. 💙

The Super Hero Within is a weekly Friendship Group at The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Red Rock in Colorado Springs for military-connected kids ages 8–12.

Through games, interactive activities and time with peers, kids can have fun while building skills that help them:

🌟 Build friendships and self-confidence
💬 Express thoughts and feelings in healthy ways
💙 Understand what makes a healthy friendship
🧘 Practice mindfulness and manage emotions
🛡️ Set healthy boundaries
🤝 Work through conflict
⭐ Connect with other kids who understand military life

We’re proud to partner with Wounded Warrior Project to help connect our military community with resources and support. 🇺🇸

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) offers a wide range of no-cost programs and services designed to support warriors and their families — including mental health, physical wellness, career and financial support, connection, and long-term care.

Resources include 🧠 Project Odyssey®, Warrior Care Network® and WWP Talk for mental health and emotional support; 💪 wellness coaching, Adaptive Sports and Soldier Ride®; 💼 Warriors to Work®, VA benefits assistance and financial coaching; and 🤝 family connection opportunities and peer support groups. WWP also offers its Independence Program for warriors living with severe injuries.

If you’re a post-9/11 veteran, active-duty or transitioning service member, family member, or an important part of a warrior’s support system, you may be eligible to register.

🐾 Happy National Dog Day from the Cohen Clinic at Red Rock in Colorado Springs!

Today, we’re putting the spotlight on some very important members of our extended clinic family — the four-legged friends who bring our Colorado Springs team plenty of love, laughter and joy. ❤️

At the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Red Rock, supporting mental health and well-being is at the heart of what we do. Connection, companionship and moments of joy can all play a role in taking care of ourselves — and our furry family members have a pretty special way of providing all three. 🐶

They may not officially be on staff, but anyone who has ever been greeted by a wagging tail after a long day knows the difference our pets can make. They get us moving, keep us company, make us laugh and sometimes seem to know exactly when we need a little extra comfort.

We were pleased to welcome Senator Matt Ball and Representative Michael Carter to the Cohen Clinic in Colorado Springs!

Cohen Clinic Director Amy Moore and Jason Cornelius, Chief Operating Officer of Red Rock Behavioral Health Services, provided a tour of the clinic and shared more about the care and resources available to veterans, service members, and military families in the Colorado Springs community.

Visits like these are an important opportunity to strengthen connections with community leaders, increase awareness of the unique needs of the military-connected community, and highlight the work happening every day to expand access to high-quality mental health care.
