The very first episode of Can You Brush It with Kendra? is a deeply personal one. 🤍

Kendra is sharing that she was recently diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer and will be undergoing surgery to have it removed.

What makes her story especially important to share is how it was discovered: during an oral and head & neck cancer screening.

These screenings are something dental professionals often perform quietly during your routine visits. You may not even realize we’re checking your tongue, tissues, neck, lymph nodes, thyroid area, and other structures—but those few minutes can be incredibly important.

For Kendra, that routine screening led to further evaluation and ultimately an early diagnosis.

We talk so much about teeth and gums in dentistry, but our responsibility extends far beyond cavities. Your dental visit can play an important role in your overall health, too.

Kendra is being incredibly vulnerable in sharing her experience because she wants patients—and fellow clinicians—to understand just how valuable these screenings can be.

Please make sure an oral cancer and head & neck screening is part of your routine dental care. And clinicians: don’t skip it just because everything appears normal. Sometimes the things we find unexpectedly are the things that matter most. 🦷🤍

We’re sending Kendra so much love as she prepares for surgery, and we’re incredibly grateful she chose to share this chapter with all of you.

A little behind-the-scenes look at how we make your hygiene visit more comfortable. 🦷✨

For this patient, we used the ReLeaf® system to help with moisture control and keep the area comfortable and accessible while we worked. We also applied HybenX® around #7 to help us manage the biofilm and deposits in that area before instrumentation.

One of the things we love about incorporating products like HybenX into our appointments is that it can help us work more efficiently in areas that need a little extra attention — which can mean a gentler, more comfortable experience for our patients. 🤍

And at Flourish, when we feel HybenX would be beneficial during your hygiene visit, we currently provide it at no additional charge. We want to have every tool available to make your appointment as comfortable and effective as possible.

A huge thank you to for sending us some new supplies to use in the practice, and to / for giving us another tool to support our patients and their oral health. 🌿

This weekend, the Flourish Dental & Wellness team was honored to sponsor and volunteer at the Pikes Peak State College RAM Clinic, helping provide much-needed dental care to patients in our community.

We believe that access to quality oral healthcare matters, and we are proud to support opportunities that allow students to learn, grow, and make a real difference while serving those who need it most.
